I wonder what else lies below? More sinkholes? Jimmy Hoffa? Godzilla?

A 40-foot-wide sinkhole has opened at Austin Peay State University's Governors Stadium, complicating the project underway already to replace the main stadium building. The hole, in the north endzone, started out only about 3 feet by 5 feet, but workers have had to dig it out to be much larger in search of stable bedrock.
Construction crews and APSU officials have known about the sinkhole for about a month, and began major work to address it Monday, said Mike Jenkins, superintendent for Bell Construction Company.
With so many limestone caves in Montgomery County, sinkholes such as this are prepared for in the budget.
In fact, there are several smaller sinkholes in the parking lot that crews will have to fix when they get to that part of the project.
Workers expect to have the hole filled by the end of the week, and the work shouldn't affect their schedule won't or the construction of the new stadium building.
Bell said they are still expecting to put down new turf and a new track in June, and the stadium should be ready go to by the Govs' home opener, Sept. 13.

I would hate to be the structural engineer that was in charge of that project.

Secret underground train network that runs between Air Force bases across the country. I saw it on the H2 channel last night so it must be true.

OK, I'll say it. Must have been a Lehigh grad.

Unfortunately, ground subsidence isn't generally covered....

That is definitively APSU, work hard and are building a really nice west side to the stadium- and then the field falls in.........upside, they really needed new turf and with no renovations to the east side, we will all continue to enjoy the outstanding "Let's Go Pee, Wall"

Can't wait until the new stadium gets built at UT Martin next year. I don't think we need to worry about sinkholes. haha

As someone joked on the Tennessean website..."no worries, Peay never gets in the end zone anyway."
The only problem is, their opponents do with regularity.
It is nice to see them seriously upgrading their stadium...at least something is coming out of all the guarantee money they are making playing so many FBS schools (9 in the last 4 seasons).
