I'm not going to condemn Winston for this, many a college student has done stupid things. He does have expensive taste though.

Report: Jameis Winston shoplifted
Florida State (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/52/florida-state-seminoles) quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston (http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/530308/jameis-winston) was issued a citation Tuesday for shoplifting crab legs from a Publix supermarket, SB Nation reported (http://www.tomahawknation.com/2014/4/30/5668004/jameis-winston-arrested-shoplifting-crab-legs-publix), citing multiple sources.

"He got an adult civil citation," a source told the website. "If he completes the sanctions it will never show up on his record.
"They commonly give them to juveniles on first criminal offenses. They are now doing it for minor misdemeanors for adults to lower crime rate."
A source told SB Nation that Winston will be fined $30, required to do community service and suspended from FSU's baseball team, with whom he's 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 16 appearances this spring. Winston was named to the preseason All-America third team as a utility player by Baseball America.
A 2 p.m. ET news conference in Leon County has been scheduled regarding the case.
In December, the state attorney in Florida decided not to charge Winston after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at an off-campus apartment on Dec. 7, 2012. The quarterback had faced felony charges.
The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights has since opened an investigation into FSU's handling of the allegations against Winston and potential Title IX violations by the university.
Winston also was involved in two other minor incidents, but was never arrested or charged in either case. In November 2012, police questioned Winston and other FSU football players after 13 windows were broken at an apartment building near the school's stadium, after an apparent BB gun fight. In the second incident, in July 2013, a Burger King employee called Tallahassee, Fla., police to complain that Winston was stealing soda.

If it had been Krab legs then I'd have questioned his thinking.

Young guys do stupid ****. Some learn, some don't. Guess we'll see on him but not sure I'd bet the over on that one.

It was the evil legacy of the slavery that forced him to do it. Isn't that how most black crime is explained away by folks like you Nodak?

Unfortunately, no. :(

I love seafood. A nice softshell crab sammich, where the crab is literally looking at you as you take the first bite. Do a lot of clamming in the summer, steam the smaller ones that night and then cut up and freeze the bigger ones for chowder in the winter (none of that Manhattan **** either).

Except Tallahassee is like 50 miles from the gulf. I hope he stays in school for next year to maybe have a chance to learn something about how to act.

He got suspended for a half a game for cursing, haha. I'd say 99% of kids on college football teams in America curse, you don't hear about them getting suspended.

Plausible, I can't say I've ever heard of it before though. I did see one stand on a table in the cafeteria and use his lunch tray to back hand slap another student across the face once, he still played on Saturday. xlolx

My favorite game day poster....."Jameis apologized for his selfish act, but what about his shell fish act?"

Winston's press conference was a disaster. Who ever decided to let him talk to the media should be suspended, too...

"It was my mistake, well, it wasn't a mistake, I just messed up".....

Holy rationalization, Batman....

He is an idiot. Don't know if the punishment fit the crime.... But it isn't overly important. If he wants to play in the League he better check himself.... Millions of dollars have potentially already been lost because teams aren't going to want to invest in someone so stupid with the recent stuff that's been going on.

Doubt it, the mock drafts that came out this weekend, even after everything occured, have him going second overall. Doesn't matter anyway if his father has his way, as Dad said he's staying until he graduates.

He needs to leave after this year. FSU will do well without him, and I can't picture him suddenly getting his personal act together well-enough to stay out of trouble for 2 1/2 more years.

What was most disturbing about his recent event, reportedly yelling FHRITP, is that he did this while under a school investigation of an alleged rape.

It also makes no sense to turn down many millions now and take the risk of a career-ending injury and getting nothing.

Slightly off topic, but I'm REALLY hoping that Dak Prescott enters the Heisman race meaningfully....

He's a great kid, both athletically and character wise...

He displayed what he could do a couple of weeks ago against LSU's defense....but, last week, during M'ssippy State's open week, he provided a little glimpse into his character.

Last year, his Mom died mid-season, from colon cancer. She fought right up until the end, and made a point to tell him to stay with his team and work out...he missed a practice or two right at the end, but famously returned to Starkville and led the Bulldogs to a win in their Egg Bowl rivalry against Ole Miss...

So, in a year where he's the Man at MSU and getting rave reviews in the SEC, what does he do on M'ssippi State's open date? He goes to see his family in Vinton, La., where his Mom's brother has some homecoming and HS reunion stuff going on. He puts on a Vinton Lion tee shirt and hangs out with the family....but...he's not done...

On Saturday, the young man has two friends who are playing in a college football game. One was a former running back at M'ssippi State and the other was one of his favorite targets in HS, who happen to play for the local FCS team.

Bearing in mind that he's getting some Heisman hype, it would have been EASY for the kid to show up at a college game wearing his #15 M'ssippi State jersey, or even a Maroon Bulldog atheltics shirt and have drawn some attention to himself...

Instead, he puts on a McNeese shirt and supports two of his friends who are on the Cowboy football team....

You can't coach that....that's just character...

If character counts, this kid would win the Heisman going away...

The Lady in the pic is McNeese the McNeese women's basketaball coach and a M'ssippi State grad...

Well, College Gameday comes to Tallahassee tomorrow. All fans are being urged to show up and then sit with your back to the set in silence to protest ESPN's unjust and unfair treatment of our team and quarterback in their repeated baseless attacks against the school and program. Lord willing, FSU will be able to get the word out to enough students and fans, and we can embarass ESecPN and their sham promoters in Herr Herbstreet and Herr Corso. We shall embrace the hate and may the Christian lord guide our hands to overcome these faux-golden-domed child touching Catholics and their Roman popery.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls14/story/_/id/12062132/jameis-winston-florida-state-seminoles-did-not-violate-school-code

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston (http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/530308/jameis-winston) was cleared Sunday of the accusations he faced at a student code of conduct hearing involving an alleged sexual assault two years ago.

Former Florida Supreme Court Justice Major Harding wrote in a letter to Winston that the evidence was "insufficient to satisfy the burden of proof." Prosecutor Willie Meggs made a similar decision a year ago when he decided not to criminally charge Winston, citing a lack of evidence.

This month, a two-day hearing was held to determine whether Winston violated four sections of the code of conduct -- two for sexual misconduct and two for endangerment.
.
.
.

Florida State president John Thrasher said the university selected the former state Supreme Court justice to remove any doubt about the integrity of the process.

"He [Harding] conducted a thorough Student Conduct Code hearing and reviewed more than 1,000 pages of evidence generated by three other investigations, and we would like to thank him sincerely for his service," Thrasher said.

Harding wrote that both sides' version of the events had strengths and weaknesses, but he did not find the credibility of one "substantially stronger than the other."

"In sum, the preponderance of the evidence has not shown that you are responsible for any of the charged violations of the Code," Harding wrote.
