Can someone please post, or link me, to a 2014 conference alignment for the FCS as well as marking which teams are eligible/ineligible for their conference title and playoffs.

It would be very much appreciated.

Okay...I was sent a list of teams and new conferences.

Can someone help me with the eligibility piece of who can/can't win the AQ and who is/isn't playoff eligible due to start up/move up and or APR?

The conferences in red I have recieved a message/post on - or I just happened to know. It was really the east coast and southern region conference I needed help with. The 2 conferences out west didn't change...

Also, a question regarding the SWAC.

I know that APR caused some real interesting situations to come up come NCAA time and auto bids there - do those exist in the football conference?

Well it looks like the SWAC and Southland are the big questions here with a little Socon and others so we could be in for a bit of a slow burn on this thread for a week or so.

ETSU does not begin play this season. Mercer and VMI are immediately eligible and furman sucks. Hope this helps.

I know that APR caused some real interesting situations to come up come NCAA time and auto bids there - do those exist in the football conference?

If you're speaking strictly of how it relates to the SWAC, it wouldn't matter because of the SWAC's non-participation. They have their own contracts for their post-season and the APR doesn't matter to them.

So...when it comes to crowning the champion they just go with whoever "won it" regardless of any APR issues?

Well they had 4 ineligible teams compete in their conference basketball tournament, not sure why football would be different.

Well they had 4 ineligible teams compete in their conference basketball tournament, not sure why football would be different.
They weren't able to win the title/autobid though.

That's what I'm asking...it's not hard.

Is the team that finishes the regular season on top of conference standings the "Champion" or does it fall to the first team not hit with APR issues?

Also, the fact I even need to ask this is completely embarrassing for the conference. Yes, I realize other schools have issues as well but when nearly 40% of your schools have mens BB programs with APR issues it's just bad.

Lehigh Football Nation

The SWAC CG is not affected by an NCAA post-season ban. It is up to the presidents of the SWAC to determine whether they want their schools to participate or not in the wake of APR violations. In years past I think at least one team was ineligible for the SCG because of it.

Of course, the APR hits HBCU's disproportionately, sometimes requiring the graduation rate of the team to exceed the overall graduation rate of the school, HBCU's don't have the resources that, say, Ohio State has to hound athletes to go to classes and take cake courses, etc, and many are on partial or no scholarship, meaning in many cases financial considerations cause them to drop out and affect their APR irrespective of their grades.

We aren't turning this into a "poor SWAC for being forced to make kids go to class" thread.

That ends now.

So, what I'm getting is as of now there are no teams "ineligible" to win the conference title?

Holy crap, this is getting exhausting trying to get a simple "No" or "Yes, this team is ineligible" answer.

I believe that's correct. Conference championships are independent of NCAA championships. A team can win the conference championship but be ineligible for postseason play. Unless the conference presidents say that the teams are ineligible for the conference through an APR violation or whatever.

Additionally, conferences have leeway for naming their champions. They could have a title game but designate someone else as champion if it is in their bylaws. You could do it by alphabetical order.

Now you get a taste of how much information is available here but how hard it can be to mine it out when you are trying to complete a simple task.

Think 2014 Schedules thread. I could name 20 other threads I've tried to use for an actual end game that were just destroyed and taken adrift only to become useless for their intended purpose.:D

Don't let em' stray clenzy or you'll hang yourself trying to complete this one.

All it would take is a yes or freaking no...that's it.

Sadly those words are too complex for some posting here and the rest can't say yes or no without a 1500 word diatribe filled with garbage...xlolx

I should know better from my pick contest when I ask people to enter a school as a very specific way and then I get every variation except and then I don't I don't give points because they didn't do it the way I told them too they cry.

The best team from the East faces the best team from the West in the SCG, the winner gets the title.

They dropped this requirement because they don't want educational standards getting in the way of the potential $$$ involved in the SWAC Championship Game.

Which is why I said we change that to check box style. Leave no variations on choice. Hell that's what you should have done here. We need just yes or no checkboxes to tick if that's all ya want. xlolx

As of now, all 12 CAA Football teams are eligible for everything. If/when a team announces any changes out of CAA Football, they immediately forfeit eligibility to the conference title and auto-bid (looking at you JMU).

In terms of the CAA, the team is ineligible for the title and auto-bid immediately, no matter when it's announced. I think a few years back ODU announced after the NCAA cutoff, but the CAA rules came into play.

As far as I know, everyone in the OVC is good to go where APR is concerned.

What kind of special resources do you need to make sure everyone goes to class? Divide the roster equally among the coaching staff. Each coach is responsible for making sure his guys go to class. Tell them they need to sit in the front of the class every day. Have strict punishments for not following those rules. Then follow through.

I believe you are correct. My earlier post was wrong. CU and UIW are not eligible as D2 move ups. HBU is eligible as a D1 program that has added football. Either way, the question is largely academic at this point in the program's development. HBU is not going to the playoffs this year.
