Makes sense. None of the prime time or weekend afternoon showings were live. In Vancouver they were.

ok, they werent live. but regardless, it was about enjoying the games primetime.

Not sure about others but if a sporting event is not live, I generally already know the results and I don't enjoy watching them.

For the same reason, World Cup ratings in the US will likely be up for these games than the South African games. South Africa is only about 6 hours difference from Eastern Time Zone (and 9 from Pacific) and Sochi is 8 hours (11 from Pacific) and those extra 2 hours can be big.

I'd bet you'd see the same thing if you looked at the any olympics halfway around the world - China, Greece, Japan, Australia, etc...
