Change is inevitable, but not always desirable.

Sometimes different is not better. I always think think of the ACC tournament as being in the south. Back when I was in high school it was one of the few conference tournaments. There were many epic battles when only the winner advanced to the NCAA tournament. North Carolina State and David Thompson topping Maryland was a classic.

I'm sure that there will be many more exciting games but they are losing something by moving it.

That 1974 game is considered the best in league history. Maryland probably had the third best team in the country (Len Elmore, Tom McMillen, John Lucas, Mo Howard, etc) and ended up in the NIT. I was in 8th grade and just finding out how rabid basketball fans in North Carolina are, as we had moved to Greensboro the previous May.

The SEC has ATL locked up for football & basketball so they're not an option. Charlotte has the ACC Championship in football fairly locked down due to the past couple of years' attendance and nightlife around Bank of America Stadium. This is a surprise that the ACC is going that deep into Yankee land.

It's also a great chance to show the A10 and Big East that they no longer run things up north...Especially the Big East.

the SEC rotates their tourney. They'll be in Nashville from next year until 2018. I've always thought this is a great move. Just gives the Noles further to travel for their one and done xlolx

The Greensboro location has always been incredibly popular to the tobacco road schools, but much less popular to GT, UVA, Maryland fans (Clemson has long been irrelevant in basketball). The conference has periodically played games in Atlanta (to please GT and a lesser extent Clemson) and metro Washington (for UVA and MD) - even in the era with only 8 teams.

In the new ACC, the tobacco road schools only make up 33% of the conference and the tournament will move around a lot - I doubt many FSU, Miami, Pitt, Syracuse, VT, GT, UVA, or Tigger fans have any loyalty to Greensboro.

As an FSU fan the location of the tourney has no bearing on me, since the team only goes because they have to xlolx
