Begins at 10 a.m. EST from the famed Penn Palestra on Saturday. Session will run until 5 p.m. Sunday session 10- 1 p.m and then 3:30-5:30 Finals. Eighteen teams this year will make a crowded gym. The Big Red of Cornell are strong favorites to repeat as team champions. A blanket can be thrown over the next 5-6 teams. Lehigh may have the edge as the #1 contender; however they are very young and the bright lights of the Championship Weekend will be a huge test. Mountain Hawks will need to get at least 4-5 finalists and good point production from the others to have any kind of shot at Cornell. It is reported that Flo Wrestling will be streaming live for the whole tournament for a $20 fee. Pretty good deal is the video is good. I will be attending...if any AGSers are, let me know.

Cornell and Lehigh are very good college wrestling programs. Dake was one of the best college wrestlers ever at Cornell.
NDSU won the West Regional this weekend and is sending 3 wrestlers to the NCAAs.

Any of you guys going to Oklahoma City? I will be there...I think in section 309. Lehigh keeping fingers crossed that 2 or three of our non-automatic qualifiers may still get in based on the 'wild card' allotment and the "RPI" strength of competition calculations they now do. Looking for a 'better' steak than the last time I was in OKC. Went to a 'highly touted' place down by "the yards" and was underwhelmed.

I don't see enough high school wrestling to know how pervasive the inaction problem is there. Maybe there are readers out there who can enlighten me. What I do know is that if college wrestling's powers-that-be ever hope to kindle more interest among students, they need to find ways to force more aggressiveness and particularly more emphasis on getting pins, by far the sport's most exciting outcome -- and a rare one, unfortunately.
Interesting observation, and one that is echoed by some in the highest levels of the sport.

Very true. The one major way to increase aggressiveness is to have the refs call stalling more frequently. Especially when both men are 'dancing' and hand fighting on their feet. Sol Israel was one of the few refs who was not afraid to call "double stalling". I even saw him disqualify our heavyweight many years ago for stalling, and rightfully so.

Lehigh was awarded three more qualifiers today in the wild card selections, giving us total of 8 going the Oklahoma City! Gardner (141), Napoli (157) and Bolich (197) were the additions to the automatic qualifiers at 125, 133, 149, 174 and 285. However I understand we got some brutal draws in the first round, so I am preparing for a lot of 'wrestle-backs'. That's where the conditioning pays off.
