Important updates:
Mercer (future SoCon member) will be dancing for the first time since 1985. Dunk City isn't coming back... because of them. (Atlantic Sun)
Coastal Carolina will be dancing as well for the first time since 1993. (Big South)
More importantly, Albany and Stony Brook are in position to get the America East Dance bid. Stony Brook will end a long drought if they win. (They have never danced since migrating from Division II in 1999.)
Finally, Davidson was eliminated in the SoCon tournament semis. The Catamounts will face Wofford for the Dance bid. (The Catamounts haven't Danced since 1996; Kevin Martin shares a dubious reputation with Jeremy Lin: both didn't Dance with their respective teams while in college, while both shined and thrived in the NBA.)

I believe I said anyone can go to the dance and only 11 teams last year won both the regular season and their conference tournament (I used USD as an example of a team that could go to the dance), as of now #2 seed Mercer, #3 EKU are dancing, # 5 Milwaukee or #3 Wright State will be dancing, #5 Western Carolina or #3 Wofford will be dancing. Only 2 #1 seeds out of 4 complete conference tournaments made it to the dance. Just like Weber State is not a guarantee to win the BSC tournament, it could be #7 Sac State or #2 UND.

Whoever's from the Big Sky (since all of them in the tourney are also FCS members)

Thats why I wish they would have kept the teams at 64, I don't like this play in game, just because the bigger schools in the power conferences cry about being bubble teams and don't get in. UND would be in no matter what because its an autobid, I hope if it is a play-in game they better win.

Boo! Put up or shut up. You have to love March Mayhem unless you're on the losing end. xnodx

I love the way Ivy League does things in basketball, volleyball, soccer and some other sports (though in baseball and softball they don't do this, since these have divisions). Send the regular season champion to the dance (or the postseason tournament in other sports). I wouldn't have it any other way.
Conference tournaments aside, I love the Dance. But I don't like the idea of knockout conference tournaments because they have already played each other at least twice.
