Not only do we get the much awaited ULM-Alabama rematch, there's news that ULM is going to move away from its three money games a year model. You want to talk about low-funded Division I institution? This is the lowest of the low when it comes to FBS budgets.

Wonder what monies that ULM is using to compensate for the loss of incoming revenue that they get from that third guarantee game? I think ULM is the 'crown example' of a school that has had their share of financial woes and folks on this board, others questioning how they maintain their FBS status.

Wickstrom also said that Alabama will be just one of two money games in 2015 as the football program moves away from the normal, three money games a year to help compensate the lowest athletic budgethttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20140220/SPORTS/302200022/Back-Bama-ULM#) among FBS schools.

“I made a commitment to coach (Todd) Berry when I got here that we would get away from three guaranteed gameshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png (http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20140220/SPORTS/302200022/Back-Bama-ULM#),” Wickstrom said. “We will start a home-and-home series instead of the three guaranteed games like in 2014.”

Speaking of northern Louisiana schools, here's some info on La Tech... and the budget implications - nearly 10% of the yearly budget came from guarantee games. The percentage probably is larger at ULM considering their budget is a few million shy of their friends in Ruston...

Dating back to 2007, Tech has played 17 guarantee games for a grand total of $9.8 million, according to financial records obtained from the university. For comparison’s sake, Tech’s total athletic budget has hovered between $14 million and $18 million, meaning game guarantees account for more than 10 percent of the yearly budget. And with a football budget of around $4 million annually, guarantees can account for almost half of that number.

In 2011, Tech received $1.73 million, or 38 percent of the football budget, from games against Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.

LOL...this is a very nice CYA post...If there werent 25,000 previous posts from you, it might appear as though you're being fair-minded...

Right after you got taken to task about your hard-on for HBCUs ;)

However, with this whole North Louisiana thing, I have a feeling a anti-Grambling screed can't be far behind...
