On Monday the Cubs signed Lou Piniella to a three-year contract to replace Dusty Baker as their manager. Piniella has won 1,519 games in 19 years as the skipper of the Yankees, Reds, Mariners and Devil Rays and won a World Series with Cincinnati in 1990. Who was the last fulltime manger hired by the Cubs who piloted a Series winner?

After intensive research (I googled it, so I cheated), I found the answer. It was a long time ago. After other people guess, I'll give you my answer.

Dick Pole! Sorry, any chance to use that as an answer is a welcomed one. A long time ago? Leo Durocher?

Leo Durocher led the New York Giants to the 1954 championship, then managed the Cubs from '69 to '72. (Joe Altobelli, who managed the '83 Orioles to a Series win, was a one-game interim manager for Chicago in '91).
