After this season. I've never been a fan of the Yankees, but he's been a great player and a class act.
First ballot Hall of Fame?

Jeter announced he would no longer play professional baseball...
That doesn't, however, preclude him from taking the field for the Astros next season ;)

Probably the smartest athlete of all time! Never got married, never had kids!! All while banging some of the hottest chics in the world! That's easily his greatest accomplishment....

As App2 noted above- I've always hated the Yankees- except when they played the Dodgers in the World Series. But Derek Jeter has my respect. Great player- always seemed classy.

This. Hated the Yankees but always had great respect for Jeter, Rivera, and Bernie Williams

As a young Mets fan, it was easy for me to hate the Yankees (particularly around 2000). However over time I developed a respect for the players that were always on the Yankees but that their team was the only "negative" about them (Jeter, Rivera, etc.). I'm happy now I took the chance to see one of his rehab games last summer in Scranton, to see a great player and class-act in person.

A legend. First ballot no doubter.
Looks like I will be making a trip to the Bronx to see him one final time in his home park.

First ballot HOFer, no doubt about it. His stats will tell you he absolutely does not deserve it by any reasonable measure, but with the Yankee machine behind him, he'll get it anyway.

He's currently 10th all-time in total hits, and is likely to finish his career in 6th place. With an exceptional season, he could finish as high as fifth.
But for the ankle fracture, he had a legitimate shot at 4,000 hits.
No brainer. First ballot on the merits.

Definitely a first ballot inductee. He's played the game the right way and has been the 'classic' leader.
