CHICAGO -- Lou Piniella, who will be formally introduced as the new Chicago Cubs manager Tuesday afternoon, wants to acquire embattled -- and possibly available -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
Sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.com that Piniella, who is extremely close to Rodriguez, expects the Cubs to aggressively pursue the 10-time All-Star. The 63-year-old manager and the 31-year-old Rodriguez have what amounts to a quasi-father/son relationship; Rodriguez was managed in Seattle by Piniella from 1994-2000. It is that relationship -- and the tantalizing talent of Rodriguez -- that has prompted Piniella to want to explore a trade with the Yankees.

Oh please please please, as a die-hard White Sox fan, let the scrubs, yuppies in search of a tan, un-educated yuppies, get pay-rod. Oh good Lord that would be great. Then the scrubs will haveb no excuse when they completely blow next year.

Ok, and what do the Cubs have in their system to surrender?
It's situations such as these where HOF-to be players are dealt away. Hiring Pinella in ChiTown is a bad move... bringing head-case A-rod to crazy Cubs fans and a cursed team is just as bad... this is how teams stay cursed ladies and gents.

As a Yankees fan, I'll take just about whoever for AROD. Cubs have some decent guys in their system. I live in Des Moines and have watched them dominate AAA and they are just starting to come around in the Bigs. I feel that they have the ability to become great pitchers given the right environment, much like Wang did this year.

It would likely take a swap of the 3rd basemen with Chicago covering all Arod's costs, and including a top line pitching prospect such as Rich Hill or Angel Guzman.

Exactly why he should leave.

I've never witnessed a group of people making a bigger scapegoat out of someone. Was A-Rod the ONLY Yankee to not get the big hit when it counted against the Tigers? :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

Yankee fans are jokes. With short memories.
Tell you what: We'll give you Chad Tracy, he of almost 20 fewer homers and 50 fewer RBI's. Without those, Yankees probably don't even make the *****ing playoffs.

If the Cubs want A-ROD, they WILL have to depart with Zambrano and that would not be a good idea!!

AROD is a hall-of-famer and I was excited to see him in pinstripes. But, I'm really sick of all the drama and baggage that has come with him. I'm sick of seeing him strikeout and make that half-asses smile/cringe that he makes.

The "Oh, it's OK...I just made $40,000 for that strikeout" half-ass smile/cringe?? Or whatever ungodly figure he makes for every at-bat. : smh :
