No kickers because of where you put your cutoff. If you listed the top 20 scorers you would have 3 kickers.

What are you trying to say? The guy wouldn't be in the scoring category. And the Gateway has about 4-5 running backs with better numbers than those.

One is at YSU: 900 Yards in 6 games: 150 yards per game and 12 TD's... named Mason....

That cat isn't bad though... but i donno what your trying to post.

Total Offense and Scoring Offense is everyone's "darling," San Diego. Total defense is Cal Poly. If it weren't for that darned Justise Hairston, RMU would have remained at the top for the fourth week in a row.

*shakes fist at Hairston*

Oh well, I'll take the win!

For the range they were posting he wasn't in. He is at #20 on the longer list.

Amazing! Six of the top 24 efficiency rated I-AA QBs play in the Gateway Conference. Add those QBs along with all the great GFC RBs, and you have some incredible offensive fireworks in the Gateway.

Definitely makes for some entertaining games for us fans..very cool!

The A10 has 3 of the top 9 Pass Eff QBs. Coen leads everyone by a good distance. Anyone know what the highest Eff someone could have?

When I read that a conference has that many high scoring offenses, it translates to me that no one plays defense. Much like how I view the PAC 10.

For me, give me a 13-7 game annnnny day of the week over a UNH/UD type game.

Scoring defense is not a good stat to measure defenses by. That could mean some wide open INTs for easy returns, etc.

How about by yardage?

So going by top 10 defenses, the A-10 has more.

Would be interesting to compare who the teams have played thus far and such. I know Maine played at YSU and UMass played against I-A Navy. We'll have to keep an eye on this as conference play continues.

Defense wins championships

Really? Prove that statement in regards to I-AA. Go back and look at the stats. When is the last time the top D won the national championship? WKU maybe? Other than that? In 2004 when we went to Chatty, we were ranked 117 out of 117 in pass D and we couldn't stop the run.

I don't know if defense wins championships, but it sure looks less sissy on tv.

Again, maybe I'm just from small town south Georgia, but I'd rather see two teams line up and hit each other than run around one another.

So let me get this straight, when Ingle Martin threw for almost 3,000 yards and Furman averaged 35 points a game in 2005 you were bored, discontent, longed for an anemic offense?

Cool....a little skirmish between A10 and Gateway fans over who has the best conference!!

Both the A10 and GFC have distinguished themselves as the two best conferences this year. Even though the Big Sky (with it's 5 teams) may be rated higher than both...ha ha.

The playoffs are going to be fantastic this year with all the potential matchups between the A10 and Gateway teams....no doubt about it! xsmileyclapx

I don't long for anemic offenses. I just dont like 45-43 games. I'm a purist. I like my baseball games to be about pitching and defense, I like my football to be hard hitting and low scoring.

To be honest, our quick scoring offense last year was fun to watch and all, but it left our defense out on the field too long. Give me a run oriented offense with a strong defense any day. That's why I love watching this Furman team play. They just line up and hit you square in the mouth.

Many disagree with me, but the best college football game I've watched all year was Auburn v. LSU that ended 7-3. Southerner's, by and large, LOVE to watch two defenses slug it out. It's what makes us better than you. :smiley_wi

Why would yardage be better then points? To me... I want my D to keep the other team off the scoreboard. How many yards we give up means less. You lose by points not by yards. Heck we outgained Navy but still lost the game.

It has worked 6 times this year for YSU, we are averaging 36 a game, and allowing 21 a game.. but in the end.... Thats still a win...

In the GFC... We don't need a great defense to win games, they are high scoring contests to show the best of the talent of I-AA..... lol

GFC---#1... You will see come Playoff Time.
