Mountain Hawks clobbered the Midshipmen last night in Grace Hall, 26-6, bouncing back from a similar thrashing at the hands of Cornell last Sunday. And yet, Navy had beaten Maryland the same weekend. Hard to figure out some nights. Lehigh Heavyweight Max Wessel made a triumphant return to the mat after breaking his ankle in the opening match back in early November with a 19-6 drubbing of his opponent. Wessel is also on the USA Judo team (and ranked #5 in nation) and showed more moves than most heavyweights show in an entire season. Another pleasant surprise was #16 Elliot Riddick (freshman) upset #10 Miller, 2-1 where Riddick was the aggressor throughout. Next up is a trip out west to #20 Oregon State (1/23) and Boise State (1/25) before returning home to face Rutgers (2/8) and #3 Iowa (2/14), which will be held at Stabler Arena to accommodate an anticipated crowd of over 5,000. Dan Gable will be guest speaker at a dinner for Lehigh Wrestling Club members before the match and will be honored, as well, prior to the match. Lehigh entered last night's match ranked #21.
