Two days after getting swept out of the ALCS by Detroit, the Oakland A's fired manager Ken Macha, the team announced Monday.

The San Francisco Chronicle, citing team sources, reported earlier Monday that Macha's job was in jeopardy due to his trouble communicating with his players and his "callous attitude" toward injured players.

Maybe Girardi will end up there. From one low-budget operation to another!

Maybe Dusty Baker will end up in Oakland. He says that he wants to manage, and he can go back to the Bay Area. Who knows.

I'm hoping Showalter so the Rangers can smoke the A's next year.

Wish the Cubs would've gotten Girardi. I think the A's needed a change. Post season play has been lacking.

The word from the people on XM Radio's baseball coverage was that the players absolutely hated Macha. Some of them said he hadn't talked to some of them in weeks. He was a good manager strategically, but you have to have some personality too.

Coaching in pro sports is almost more about managing personalities of players than strategy.

Ron Washington, their 3rd base coach should get it. He's been there through all the success and is a great coach.

Girardi will be cheaper, remember, this is Oakland, the manager is part of Money Ball

Dusty Baker has no chance. Dusty is an old-school coach, the kind Beane mocks in Moneyball.
