CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Katie Smith of Concord, N.C., was selected as the grand prize winner of the Big South Conference’s “State Farm Bowl Game Giveaway.” As the recipient of the grand prize, Smith received tickets for two to the Dec. 28, 2013 Belk Bowl Game in Charlotte, N.C., courtesy of Big South Conference Corporate Partner State Farm Insurance. Smith was randomly selected from all contestants for the grand prize package.
In its seventh year, the “State Farm Bowl Game Giveaway” began in August and ran throughout the 2013 football season. Registration for the Giveaway was available at select Big South football games and on-campus events. More than 1,500 people registered for this year’s Giveaway.
In addition to being eligible for the grand prize package, three selected finalists were also given the opportunity to participate in an on-field kicking contest during a Big South football game for a chance to win $300, also courtesy of State Farm.
“The State Farm Bowl Giveaway was a wonderful contest to enter and win,” said Smith. “After attending the game I have to say that the overall experience was very rewarding. I was able to take my brother who is now a huge fan of college football and wants to go back to the Belk Bowl again next year. We were both impressed with the event. I would like to thank State Farm and the Big South Conference for giving me this awesome opportunity."
State Farm is also sponsoring the Big South Conference “State Farm Basketball Giveaway,” which began in December and runs throughout the Big South basketball season. The winner of this promotion will win a trip to the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
