Congrats
It is ironic to me that in a conference that plays ZERO defense the last 2 BB award winners have come from the BSC. (Big soft Conference)

And 6 of the last 11 ;)
Also shocking that Davis Tull finished outside the top 10. I bet the problem was most voters confused Chatty for an NFL team and voted for him as NFL Defensive POTY.
Congrats to Daly, 14 sacks and 20.5 TFLs is an incredible season.

Montana and Montana State seem to have prided themselves on defense for as long as i have been following. J.C. Sherret was a machine his entire time at EWU.

Tied for first in DI for sacks, he definitely deserved this award. He had great numbers and was hurt most of the year.. I wonder what he could have done if he was closer to 100% for the entire season..

Single dumbest thing I have read on this board this year.
WHAT DEFENSE, Jesus every week teams were running up 400-600 yards and 30+ points on either one.
Montana hasnt had a dominating defense since I started following the program in 1983. 2001 may be the best one they have ever had and it was good but nowhere close to dominating. 2007 would be the other one that was better than average and it wasnt as good as the 2001 team.
Big Sky wouldnt know defense if Buddy Ryan came back and held a 5 year clinic. There has never been a GREAT defense in the BSC in 30 years I have been following......dont even try to argue that point because your wearing clown shoes if you do.

Maybe not all time great defenses, but some great individual defensive players. Jared Allen, Bill Kollar, Mark Fellows, Colt Anderson are a few that come to mind, not to mention the Daly boys and Caleb. I would agree with Alpha that there hasn't been a dominating defense on a national stage that I can remember unless I go back to the 84 Cats.

He deserves it! Noticed that Riddick finished ahead of Backus in voting. No shock. He should have. Glad the national media got that right!
Daly and Robertson were the top 2 defenders I saw on tape all year. They deserved to be 1 and 2!

Might as well rename it the Big Sky DPOY Award.
