Pretty interesting matchup. Neither of these teams knows much about the other. Both are on a roll and came of big wins against conference foes. At this point I dont know enough about SLU to make a prediction. The last time UNH was in Louisiana, it went really well for the wildcats.

We're a bunch of small, slow, inexperienced overachievers who have lucked our way through the season. Hopefully the luck continues. Have a safe trip to Hammond!

As someone said in a different thread, UNH is clearly playing with house money, and also clearly won't be even close to favored in any game going forward. So let it all hang out, and hope for the best.
The biggest positive is the defense has gotten a lot better in the 2nd half, and doesn't seem to be getting gashed with the regularity of the first half. Will it be enough? I'll guess we will find out come Saturday.
My guess is the bubble gets burst for the Cats in a pretty high scoring game.

I think for UNH to win it will have to be high scoring with UNH getting the ball last with a chance to win. SLU could win in a blowout but I think for UNH it will have to be close. Watching the SHSU-SLU game it looked like the SLU offense was pretty balanced, an excellent running/passing quarterback, fast receivers and fast RB's. Offensive line looked huge but the tackles looked a bit slow in the feet (again small sample here I didn't watch the whole game), hopefully we will have good edge DE pressure on the QB like we have these past few weeks.

Good evening to all the New Hampshire Fans in advance for this thread being infiltrated by a few of the Sam Houston Fans. Hopefully, we can provide you with information regarding your visit to SLU this Saturday. The primary source for information online is www.Lionsports.net (http://www.Lionsports.net). Congratulations on your win this past weekend - my wife and I watched you guys on ESPN. Very solid team.

They are however a good representation of the Southland Louisiana based schools for sure!! I always thought as a player McNeese was at least clever and funny with their trash talk but going as a fan it was just as bad as all the other schools in Louisiana (never played in Conway). And no nobody is bitter...SELA deserved to win that game. They played better all season and besides the fact we should have won that game and handed it to them at the end they played alot better than us Saturday too! If our receivers could have made half the catches they flat dropped then I wouldnt say they deserved to win. We played bad again!! They are only saying the fans are classless and its pretty much true! The verbal onslaughts during the game from SELA fans to SHSU fans was absurd! I don't know why people in Louisiana feel its their right to lose their sense of common everyday courtesy when they step into a football stadium but for some reason they do! A few might talk alot of smack on here but I can guarentee if an SHSU fan at Bowers was saying stuff like that repeatedly to opposing fans there would be 10 Kat fans telling him to shut their mouths! It has nothing to do with the team as they play good honest football! The fans On the otherhand are a bad representation of humanity! Personally I blame it on Bush :-)

It was pretty bad. I have nothing but respect for a coach that can bring together over 40 transfers and play at the level SELA has done this year. On the field should be a great game like this past Sat. game but as a fan's perspective I won't be back. I had to escort my wife to the restroom and the concession trailer during the game. The shower of nachos after the game that came our way was just the last straw. I did not encounter any rude or classless people away from the stadium but inside was a different story. I've never rooted against a SLC school in the playoffs before but this time I hope UNH does win by 24. Simba has some growing up to do.

Our senior corner, Todd Washington (NFL prospect), developed "Turf Toe" the week leading up to the Lamar game and hasn't played since ... he's already had surgery in hopes of being ready for the NFL Combine. Our sophomore on the other side (Harlan Miller) has a chance to be a high draft pick in two years. He's better than Robert Alford at the same stage. We have another sophomore (Denzel Thompson) starting in place of Washington who is 6-3 and very long ... he too may get a chance if he continues to develop.

Right now Roberson is listed as questionable ... he's definitely electric, and a factor in kick returns, but we have so many weapons, we should be able to compensate ok.

Is that true, or just hyperbole? I thought there were a few schools in the CAA big on transfers, but that number is somewhat shocking. I don't think UNH takes transfers except in very rare cases, not that there would be any top level transfers that would actually want to come to Durham. :D

I wasn't paying that close attn to who was who... Just assumed thompson was Washington due to the freak size. Yes 5-11 is freak size when your used to years of midget db's at shsu although we have had some good ones. What are the stats on the DL? Something like 8 300+ lb d linemen?

The correct number is 33 over the last two years - most are JC. We do have some walkons who started out at D2 schools, but weren't recruited and don't play. We have seven FBS transfers total, one who was already here under the previous staff.

We do have JC/FBS transfers, but you'd be surprised at how many are HS recruits, and/or who were already here under the previous staff. Our starting LT, LG, and center are all 5th year seniors, who have been here for five years, and our RG is a sophomore. Two of our top three WRs are high school signees, as well as both tight ends. Our top two running backs are high school kids.
On defense, both starting corners are high school kids, as well as two safeties and most of our LB corps.
As for our D-line, we'll usually roll eight or nine guys throughout the game who range between 275 and 320.

Strawberry Stadium is a great place to watch a football game ... we have great fans who will treat New Hampshire fans with respect. If you bring some bad apples who go into the game looking for trouble, I can't say they won't find it, but I don't foresee any problems. Outside of a few serial whiners, we've rarely, if ever, had problems in the past with opposing fans.

Don't judge SHSU fans because of forum posters because that's retarded. Comparing games is too, this was a playoff game something that SLU has never had so naturally more are going to attend vs regular season game.
Did SHSU complain against NDSU or other such as a big rivalry as SFA? Look at our losses did we? Nope, and if there were complaints it was on a very small level. Sure every fan has their bad eggs but when that many people are escorted out and there were guards around fans that's another level.
Another thing people bashing Sam fans like McNeese75 why on Geauxcowboys are there McNeese fans saying the preferred Bowers as one of the stadiums they are visiting?

I realize you didn't follow Binturong Football before 2012, but SELA's had some good teams in the past...the 2004-2005 team with Martin Hankins was pretty good...they filled the stadium and didn't have any problems with any other fan base....the stadium's always been full for the McNeese / SELA series and none of the stuff that your guys complain about, even though they admit not going to the games, has ever happened...

Four outright titles? I don't think so...
SELA won theirs all by their lonesome...
With regard to playoff victories, the only one that matters is the one you just lost...
SELA beat you twice in one year. That's hard to do...

Yet they still beat you when it mattered...and for the second time this year...
With regard to the whole "McNeese is not king thing" you do recall that McNeese beat you this year also, and that you finished in third place in the conference and made the playoffs only because you were able to ride the coattails of your previous body of work...
You didn't get in because you deserved to....

Yeah we didn't crush another team in the playoffs guess I was dreaming last week up. I guess we should have gotten embarrassed at home to be king huh?
Seeing as reading comprehension isn't your forte, you would notice I said nothing about SHSU being king or me disputing SLUs out right championship.

You may not have come out and said it, but you're clearly not happy with the fact that you Civets got beat twice in the same year by the same team.
Otherwise, you wouldn't be wasting bandwith in not one, but two threads about SELA's upcoming game taking potshots at them. If you one single shred of class, you'd STFU and MTFA, but...knowing you....you'll continue to clog up the thread with your dickheaded noise.
I know you feel like you gotta have the last word. Mouthy bitches are always like that...but, why don't you demonstrate that you're not a total **** and move the rest of the dialogue to the Bitchfest thread and let UNH and SELA talk about their game.
Clearly, you can't contribute to the thread knowledgeably, so you'll end up doing what you do, which is negative attention whoring...

I think the game between SLU and UNH will come down to a few factors - how well UNH is able to contain the SLU Quarterback, and the how well the backups for injured players perform. Both teams are well balanced, well coached and disciplined (at least from what I saw in the Maine Game). I will give SLU the home field advantage. SLU by 3 late in the fourth quarter. Projected weather conditions will limit both teams offensively.

Was mule deer hunting in West Texas for a few days so just now seeing highlights and KUDOS to they Lions...VERY talented team. Although an FCS school in Hammond, LA stocking up on piece-of-crap (the schools, not necessarily the kids) JUCO kids from all over the country is a bit questionable, Coach Roberts has made it work so good for him. Kats blew this one and I think if Bell doesn't get hurt, the 4th down is converted & we find out who won the bid between UNH & Sam...but Bennett is damn good & as long as he is healthy the Lions can play with anyone this year.
Saw UNH whip up on an overrated Maine team a couple weeks back on TV but I think Lions win this one by 2 scores.
As far as the fans this past weekend, I don't know...wasn't there but I've heard from some buddies 1st-hand who wouldn't make that stuff up plus I've been to 2 LSU games & can totally see where they would "learn" how to behave. I've only stopped through Hammond on our way to Destin & won't be back. Seems some of the Katrina victims took a wrong turn while following the herd to Houston. Just my $0.02, take it or leave it.

Obviously the key to this game is going to be how well UNH contains Bennett. He has rushed for over 1000 yards this year, with over 100 yards in four games. He's also a good passer as he showed in the last drive in the SHSU game last week. UNH has had troubles with running QBs this year (Robertson of Villanova ran for 276 yards) and they'll need to key on Bennett. SLU also has the top kick-off returner in the country, so the special teams will need to be sharp. The wide receivers are generally small, but look to have good speed. Their defense has been pretty sound, holding #8 ranked (scoring) McNeese State to 7 points and #11 SFA to 14, but also gave up 27 points or more in 6 of their FCS games. All in all it looks like it could be a great game.

Trouble with defending our offense is you have to pick your poison. If you try to focus on containing Bennett running the football, you either leave yourself vulnerable on the back end in the passing game, or open up running lanes for our tailbacks, or wideouts in the speed sweep game. We spread it around to a bunch of different guys so it's tough to key on one or two individuals. Bennett obviously puts us over the top with his ability to run and throw, but he's far from our only weapon. It also helps that our O-line is very physical, with good size. If we need to line up under center with two tights and a fullback, and pound it, we can do that too. We regularly rotate 10 offensive linemen every week - depending on who's healthy - and if you don't have a lot of depth up front defensively, it takes a toll, especially in the second half.
Defensively, the points allowed is a little misleading ... we've given up some defensive scores, and/or scores set up by turnovers and special teams ... and several scores came with games already out of hand. We've faced four Top 20 offenses (Nos. 2,14,15 & 16), over five games, and allowed an average of 15.8 defensive points and 325 yards per game, in those games. Samford put up some passing yards and 31 points on us, but they were full strength when we played them and hit us with a bunch of stuff we hadn't seen on tape, including gadgets (which we know UNH does a ton). We were still were up 34-14 in the 4th quarter, playing with our backup QB pretty much the whole way.
As for the game, I have a great deal of respect for New Hampshire and the CAA, and expect a tough battle for four quarters. You don't make 10 straight playoff appearances, and numerous quarterfinals, without being a quality, well-coached program. Hopefully the weather holds and both teams play their best football!

I was hoping for a Sam Houston match up, but that obviously didn't happen. Bennett is the real deal, even when he was at Oregon. Heck, he got beat out by a Heisman candidate. So I'm definitely worried about what he can do, especially his running ability (Robertson from 'Nova gave us all we could handle). Fortunately, our defense is not the same defense (for some reason) that was giving up 2nd half leads and 200+ rushing performances consistently. I'm just really proud of this year's team and the grit they've shown. They are playing for history this week after nearly losing the streak early in the season. I want them to succeed so bad, and I know Coach Mac is going to have them ready to run through walls. SELU, I'm hoping, will experience the same fate as McNeese a few years ago. I HATE making predictions, but here it goes: UNH 38 SELU 21.

I think this game is closer than people are thinking here. I've seen UNH a couple of times (Including in Person) and this defense has gotten better than when they played Towson back in Late September. Saw them last week and against JMU a couple of weeks before that on TV and they're a much better team than people are giving them credit here. They can stop folks and run a pretty good offense. Thinking this is a 31-28 SELA win, as much as my heart wants an all CAA final.

Tigerfan, I agree with your assessment. I gave it a SLU by 3 earlier - giving SLU the home field advantage. The winner will be the team who plays mistake free football. If SLU spots UNH 14 points the way they did SHSU last week - they will be in trouble. Should be a great game to watch. I am very curious to see how SLU does in the trenches. Does UNH play on turf or grass when at home?

I think this is a game where a win by either team will not be a surprise. I can see scenarios for both winning. UNH has to be efficient with their possessions and not give away many opportunities. SELA looks like a team that can score a lot, so keeping their offense off the field is a primary concern. Picking the 'cats in a tight one...'cause you know why. (;-)
