"There were a lot of positives when you dug down deeper past wins and losses. Sparky is a dignified ambassador of VMI, he cares deeply, and he’s worked hard to put the program in this position. And we’re looking forward to continue to grow and advance with his leadership.”
Woods, who turns 60 on Dec. 20, has done everything right but win games in his six years at VMI. There’s a lot of work to do in that area as the Keydets own a 15-52 record since he was named to replace Jim Reid in 2008."

Sparky is still trying to recover from his USC Gamecocks getting beat by The Citadel.

2014 is the last year of this contract......no one will say, but lots are speculating that it will take at least a 5-7 mark in 2014 for him to stay.....

I hope Coach Woods gets an extension at VMI. He seems like the right guy for that difficult job.
Not easy to reverse a losing pattern. Just ask Columbia.
Hopefully Woods can continue the move in the right direction.

That entire team was full of great players. I wish we could get Everette back to Charleston but he is destined for bigger things.

This being the last year of his contract doesn't convey any confidence in Woods. Most schools buy out the last year - guess VMI is looking to save some money.
