I gotta ask - why SELA down at #7? Regionalization thing?

Also, how odd is it that suggesting the SoCon auto-qualifier play AT Bethune-Cookman isn't outside the realm of possibility?

It may be odd but there's no rule that says the SoCon champ has to host.

As for SeLa, it is a regionalization thing to me. It might not be right, but that's how I see it.

If you want to replace Charleston Southern with Lehigh, I'd be elated, but I don't think that will happen.

You could replace them with Liberty and I wouldn't mind or any of your last four. I don't care.

We'll be No. 3 before 7.

I just can't see you guys at #7. #5, maybe, but 7 seems ridiculous - but he already stated it's a regionalization thing. How cool is it to be seeded this year?

Why would NAU and Fordham be seeded?

I'm just happy to be in, and really don't care, but they're not going to seed based on regionalization. They'll consider regional factors when it comes to filling in the at-large games, and pairing up with seeds, but the top 8 aren't going to be juggled that way ... at least that's not what I was told.

I thought the NCAA did not like to pay for airplane flights in the first round and there is a distance limitation? You have Furman traveling 500 miles to BC. That's an airplane trip not a bus ride.

I assume everyone is salivating over the prospect of drawing/beating up on the hapless little Pards.

And can you guys with all the initials please spell out your school names for purposes of the playoffs? I'm easily confused.

I updated my predicted bracket slightly. Though I did keep SeLa as the No. 7 seed.

I took the regionalization thing just a bit more to heart.

Something to think about: If you truly regionalize the field, you're basically left with Chuck South@Bethune.

Big South won last year, but that was against a MEAC, so someone had to win. MEAC last won I think in late 90's, OVC was 20 years I think.

I am a pretty resourceful guy, but I am not going to spend 2+ hours combing through teams archives to find an answer that I know a few intelligent FCS fans on this board have the answer to. Hopefully they see this post.

Did you know . . .

The guy at the NCAA in charge of FCS playoff selection and seeding is Damani Leech. How ironic is it that Leech is a graduate of Princeton, which refuses to participate in the playoffs?

Meac - Florida A&M reached the semis in 1999 with wins against App. St. and Troy.

OVC - Eastern Kentucky beat CAA/A10/Yankee conference member Boston in 1994.

The Big South has only sponsored football since 2002. They have two playoff wins. In 2011 Stony Brook beat NEC Albany and in 2012 Coastal beat MEAC Bethune Cookman. They've only received an automatic bid since 2010.

check Furman's own playoff history for their trip to Montana State or Wofford's first round trip to Montana. It happens.

This was easy, since I already answered it in another thread.

The Big South has only gotten the autobid fairly recently (2010). There have been 3 wins total. Coastal lost to App State in 2006 (hard to count that against us) as an at-large. Coastal lost to Western Illinois at home in 2010 with the first BSC autobid (you could count that against us as I thought we were better than we played that day), Stony Brook beat Albany but lost at Sam Houston State in 2011, Coastal beat Bethune-Cookman but lost at ODU in 2012 while Stony Brook beat Villanova and lost to Montana State. Not too shabby for a young conference.

I wonder something about the playoffs and the autobids. If you get an autobid and have less than six Division I wins (Lafayette this year), Can they say you can't be in the playoffs because of that record? I thought the Six division I wins rules protected sub-500 teams from getting into the playoffs. Does that not matter if you win the conference?

That is a guideline for at-large consideration, and should really be 8 wins in a 12 game schedule and 7 wins in a 11 game schedule.

never understood the argument on past performance? The teams this year are the ones the committee needs to judge. UTC deserves a fair evaluation, their most recent trip was 20 years ago or so but that shouldn't eliminate their team. You could go on and on about past numbers and if the committee choose this path just mail the trophy to NDSU.

That is a guideline for at-large consideration, and should really be 8 wins in a 12 game schedule and 7 wins in a 11 game schedule.

A rough count would give you a field of 22, that included Lehigh, SCSU and CSU, none who are worthy compared to several 7 win teams. 23 if you include the terrible PL autobid xsmiley_wix

The big Q from UNI is that will they overlook 5 conference losses. To me it was finally too much to overcome in terms of picking them.
