FRISCO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks silenced the critics Saturday night with a 24-13 win over defending conference co-champion, Texas State in San Marcos. The victory bumps SFA to 1-5 on the season and more importantly 1-0 in conference play, while Texas State falls to 1-4 on the season.
The first half belonged to the Bobcats as they owned a 10-0 advantage heading into the locker room. Texas State also recorded a goal line stand with 30 second remaining in the half to take all the momentum into the intermission, or so it seemed.
It was the Lumberjacks, behind quarterback Danny Southall and running back Louie Runnels, that took control of the game in the second half. SFA finished the game with 367 yards of total offense, outscoring the home team, 24-3, in the final two quarters.
