I like how Montana's been mixing theirs up without getting too crazy or tacky.

I'm not sure how they determined which schools would get these, but Florida State, Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon State will have these Nike basketball uniforms to note Native Americans.

The new uniforms sweeping the football nation are horrendous. Give me old school uniforms like at Georgia Southern any day of the week.

Oregon State began wearing turquoise jerseys in 2010 when one of their players, Joe Burton, was thought to be the first Native American to have a basketball scholarship in the Pac-10. Burton is a senior this year.
Edit. I'm not sure if OSU was the first team ever to wear the N7 jersey -- just that they have been around a few years and are used to promote Native American Month (November) similar to the Pink theme for breast cancer awareness month.
It would be a hoot if North Dakota got to wear those jerseys.

Just read this on the New Mexico Lobos web site. I never did see those jerseys, no ESPN back then.
"From 1973-79, turquoise was integrated into the official school colors, at least, for the athletics teams. The football team wore turquoise jerseys at home during those years. Cherry and silver returned as the predominant colors in 1980."

Maine recently put a small outline of the State of Maine on the back of their helmets. Its hard to notice, but I think it is really cool.

Turquoise was a source of economic wealth for Indigenous americans.
Turquoise and Jade were the two most valuable things in North America.

It has to do with Native pride, not school colors.

Those jerseys are great, I hope it spreads.
If you are ever sent back in time and have to survive, find some Jade or Turquoise and carve it into an eagle or a jaguar, you can probably trade it for a life time of food.

The wacky uniform trend exists for one simple reason: a lot high school and college players love them, so the schools make the unis to entice them. 18-22-year-old dudes usually don't have the world's greatest fashion sense xlolx

App State has some pretty sweet alternate unis and helmets. Some of the helmets tie back to past decade's look.

Not sure what to think of that uni, is it a one game deal? Wonder if they asked the military if they could do that, not that they need their permission, but just sayin.

I think it's "too much," personally... But, with the way the team is this year, it might bring on a little more interest in the last game of the season. I imagine it will be a one-game deal, although TTU usually has a military appreciation day each season, including some fund raising for military families so I'm sure they are ok with it.

Watching EWU games I'm a fan of our jerseys, and haven't notice any opponents looking too gaudy.

I like Maryland's flag helmets and Miami helmets. That being said, I'd rather have NDSU spend money on the basics (recruiting trips, salaries, facilities, etc.) than spending money on extra helmets or 5 different uniforms. I'm sure Oregon gets all of their Nike gear for free courtesy of Uncle Phil.

Maryland's uniforms have been gaudy for a few years now, but I do like the fact that they are incorporating their state flag.

In particular, the black unis with the gunmetal helmets with the red eagle, like Black & Red's avatar. Some uniforms work, some, like those Maryland uniforms are way too out there!
