Maybe it is like this every year, but I notice that special teams are having an impact on many more games. FU's blocked extra point and Coastal's return for 2 is one example.

Long kickoff returns especially fit the bill, is the new kicking tee height the swing factor?

Our special teams are a huge part. We took the opening kick this weekend back to about the 35 and threw a TD from there. A few plays later our punt returner took a 95 yard punt return to the endzone. That put us up 14-0, 5 minutes into the game.

They were definitely a factor in our game against WIU. We had a blocked punt which set up a TD. We also had a punt which we killed on the 2 yard line that put WIU on their heels. They have been a factor all year. It's nice that we have a kicker who hasn't missed a PAT or FG this year.

Looking at the stats, we had 5 returns (punt or KO) for 185 yards and a TD.

The special teams of Montana put Eastern away in the 1st quarter before the offense or defense even had a chance to get going.
