Nov. 3, 2012- Attendance for NWST- 11,579
Off week the next week
Nov. 17 against EIU- 6754

Same thing in 2011.

You know what that means? Lower attendance. Does this happen in your state to your school. Maybe not deer, but something that takes away all your fans? Besides FBS schools.

By the way I looked up Ark. State's attendance. Same thing there. Looks like the deer win out. xlolx

I go in the morning and still make the game. Luckily the Villanova game isn't until 3:30, so it shouldn't be an issue. Richmond sucks because it is at noon and fudges the morning and cuts the afternoon out altogether. More late starts!

Funny you say that. Bear games during deer season are crawling with cougars... or deer widows as they are called. They come looking for anyone to give them attention... while their husbands spend time in the woods. Sad really. But hey, I've heard the husbands don't build those fancy cabins for hunting deer..

Yeah Paul Bunyan left us a couple trees that hunters fight over during deer hunting season.

The weekend of the EWU game was the rifle opener in Montana, and it didn't seem to have much of an effect on attendance. In fact, I think that and the MSU game may have contributed to the lower-than-average number of hunters out and about...

The funny thing about ND is the amount of trees you actually see, then you realize almost all of them were planted by humans.

Only along rivers are they actually natural. Also, I have been blessed to have land along a river.

There will be less ppl there, I had a hard time finding someone to take my extra tix I have.

I wear the exact same thing to every game and have since the beginning of 2011 season. Plus a ring I bought in Frisco last year, but its a good luck charm. I only wear it to Bison games. Nothing wrong w superstition...

The biggest thing affecting UD attendance, other than a very unpopular mandatory seat fee for the best sections, is TV and one of the better (FREE) web streams in all of college football. I'll admit that I skipped one game this year that had a forecast for rain because I knew it was going to be on TV.

Deer hunting is for savages and hill-folk from Pittsburgh. In the Patriot League, we experience the inverse attendance curve. As summering at the Vineyard ends and sailing season winds down, attendance gradually rises.

Lehigh, for example, has experienced the following growth this year:
9/7 vs. CCSU: 6386
9/28 vs. UNH: 8998
10/19 vs. Georgetown: 9866

Really? Sorry my attempt at some PL humor is lost on you; it was not a jab at whoever "us" includes. There is PLENTY of deer hunting in this part of Pennsylvania, just that demographic typically doesn't take away from Patriot League football attendance.

I completely support controlling the population of those dopey creatures. They cause far too many car crashes in PA, much more than any other state: http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/breaking-news/index.ssf/2013/10/pennsylvania_no_1_in_number_of.html#incart_river_d efault

They actually have organized hunts in Valley Forge (on National Parks Service lands!) to keep the deer population in check, because they would overrun the park otherwise.

Yep, and every year the locals b*tch and moan about it. It appears this one got away, and ended up on my bumper. We still made it to the game on time though, and won. That's the important thing. And luckily our insurance agent son was a walk-on WR at the time too, so that sped the process up quite a bit as he was in the parking lot with us after the game.

I hit a deer once in Arizona - driving about 35 mph on a forest service road - dense brush on either side of road. Deer ran right in front of me. Fortunately, I had a Saturn Ion, which the hood slopes down, so it hit the deer in the legs. Flipped it up and over the side of my car - had hair on bumper, deer saliva on windshield and driver window (the head bounced off my window. According to a truck that was coming the other way, the deer did a complete mid-air 360, landed on his feet, and ran off into the brush.

You can tell you aren't from anywhere near New England! Summering is commonly used as a present participle, rather than vacationing. WTF????? Maybe Penn drivers need to stay ON the roads!
Is it a possum suicide mission for Penn. deer? Really? 120k?! That's a HUGE number! Might be time to import some deer from other states to stop that inbreeding. Send a couple of young bucks in there to thin the stupid ones out. Good lawd!

Associated Press- A small town resident in Pennsylvania decided to do something about all the deer collisions in the area he lives in and wants all residents of that great state to join him. It's called "Get them before they get us" and it appears to be working. In this exclusive photograph the gentleman shows how to make Pennsylvania highways and back roads safer. Pennsylvania Game and Fish has declined to comment about the effectiveness of this tactic but if it will lower the insurance premiums of state owned vehicles as well as those for Amish buggies, they're all for it.

oh I'm well aware of what the vineyard y'all Yankees refer too....our tax dollars have spent nearly 1/2 a billion dollars to send that robinhood wannabe that lives on Pennsylvania Avenue on countless vacations there!

See us folks down here in Texas don't refer to seasons by their traditional names. March through may is thunderstorm season, June through September is known as the devils months to prepare the non believers for eternity and to remind the believers to go to church on Sunday, October and November do the opposite and give you a little taste of heaven, then you have December through February is Chili eating season where you have to break out your jeans and sweatshirts to go fishing and possibly turn on your heater 2-3 times.

Again, no planes in 1860. Those deer swam 6 hours to get to Hawaii for king kal;dfjsdl;fgsdflghdfgh;dfsghdf;ghsdf;ghsdfghsdf;g hgflgjkf;

It must be fun living in a fantasy world. The south could build 2 or 3 planes, and the north would have had hundreds or thousands.

I've been in Oregon for 17 years and have only seen deer next to rural highways 2 or 3 times. I've seen more deer right in the Portland metro area and even crossed paths with a pair of coyotes downtown next to PGE park where PSU plays football.

That's because deer hate dense forests, at least whitetail. Patchy trees with lots of clearings (suburbs) they love. But then again, I'm sure there are other posters with much more deer expertise than this mid-atlantic boy.

No. Deer like interstates that are wide open and easy to run along. They like car paint and headlights. They like standing in the middle of a freakin' highway with cars honking loudly and giant semis blowing by them but don't whatever you do, don't step on a branch in the woods... scares the frick out of them! Deer are stupid.

Llamas hate the open roads and interstate system, just like most cats that never make it all the way across.

Um you might want to rethink that theory. There are more deer in the Sam Houston National forrest here in SE Texas per acre than probably anywhere in the country. There are not very big deer in this corner of the state but there are a hell of alot of them. Bigger deer in our state are in the panhandle which is land like you described and south texas which doesn't have many trees but the brush is so thick and thorny you don't dare try to walk in it. They cut senderos (long shooting lanes) in several directions around the stands and feeders just so they can see the deer down there.

I have commuted to Bozeman 12-13 X per month since 1991. In that time I have hit 4 deer. Two whitetail and two muley. Totaled 2 cars. Was at a co-workers Xmas party in Bozo and noticed a pair of deer whistles glued to the top of his fridge. Asked him if he thought they worked. He replied "they must because unlike you this fridge has never hit a deer."

Yes, indeed. Happened to me in Somerset County, NJ last year.

Isn't that the truth... During hunting season they see a vehicle and they are gone. The rest of the year they see a vehicle and play chicken with it.
