Don't have work this weekend and seeing how it's not midterms or finals yet (not that that's stopped me before) -- I had the choice to travel to Cheney or Berkeley this weekend. Both are about equidistant from Eugene. As much as I love the Griz and want to join the Griz Nation -- the choice between cities wasn't hard. So I will be at the Oregon-Cal game this weekend. Anyone in the Berkeley area? Are there any pregame watering holes, restaraunts we should stop in? Are there so many hippies that it makes Eugene look like Mayberry?

Thanks.

I'll be there too. You have tickets? It should be close to selling out, but getting from a scalper shouldn't be too difficult (or there is tightwad hill). If you haven't been to a game in Berkeley, it's definitely a different tailgate scene, in that there is none. The Bear's Lair pub on campus (Bancroft and Telegraph) is a great place to kick back and watch the other games before heading to the stadium. There's Kips one block over from Bancroft (blanking on the street name) and several bars on Telegraph. Another option is to wander around and you might be able to mooch some food and beer from some frat house - or you might get heckled by some. Watch out for that - let me know if you have any other questions

Glad you asked. Nonexistent. Are you driving from Eugene? Where are you staying? Wherever you're coming from, I would recommend finding the nearest BART station, parking there and taking the train to Berkeley and walking up through campus to the stadium

Staying at a friend's house in San Anselmo. Should prob park at a BART station. Leaving from Eugene in about an hour. What's the closest BART to San Anselmo (I know that's a ways out) that can get us to Berkeley?

Coming from San Anselmo, your best bet is probably to go over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, park at Richmond BART and take the train to Downtown Berkeley. Piece of cake

Man, I really hope that this is the game they'll show down here in Louisiana on ABC. I would MUCH rather see this than Nebraska/Iowa State :boring:

DAYUM you ABC!!!! If I went like 80 miles down the road to my parents' house, I could see the Oregon/Cal game! Instead I'm forced to watch the crappy Nebraska/Iowa State.

My dad is a Cal alumni so I gotta say go bears! I agree that parking is terrible and BART is your best bet. Enjoy the game, I wish it was earlier so I could catch it on TV, but I'll be enjoying the Poly-UCD game instead. Go Bears! ***** the Ducks!

Gotta love that affiliate in Harrisburg, PA. Cal/Oregon all around on the east coast, except for them. Hope they enjoy Nebraska/Iowa State. Looks like they're the only one on the east coast that does. Further look, maybe it has something to do with the Big 10. Seems all Big 10 affiliates get the Nebraska/Iowa State game.
