I'll add two more to my list of Fordham men who were given the heave ho. One Jamie O'Neill the drink troubled older brother of the playwright, who was an editor of the Fordham student journal until he tried to hoodwink the Black Robes (they were primarily French at that time). He presented a Broadway showgirl that he took to the dorm as his sister. But the good Fathers quickly uncovered the truth and he was dispatched. The showgirls name is alas lost to history. John O'Hara was a student in the second form (the Prep) but he was a pain in the ass and sent him back to eastern Pennsylvania. Fordham's esteemed President in the 30's, Father Gannon who refused the let Roosevelt on Campus until he called for review of the ROTC, had lunch with O'Hara in an effort to start a Yale series, since O'Hara was a WASP wannabee. Why? I have know idea, I myself have no interest rubbing elbows with my betters even Princess Charles.

How could I forget my old The Ram writing mate Thad Mumford who came to The Bronx from DC no Thonx as a batboy for the Bronx Bombers then went to Rose Hill. He went to Hollywood where he became head writer on Mash. Only black guy I knew who wore saddle shoes. Ran into Ray Siller who grew up on the same block in Bay ridge as John Andaraise, the former maroon cage star and Knickerbocker announcer. Both were dining in Smith &. Andaraise told me that ray wrote for 15 years for the Johnny Carson show with 5 Emmys to prove it.
