View Full Version : TN-Martin at Tennessee Tech- THURS SCORE THREAD

Lehigh Football Nation
October 5th, 2006, 05:18 PM
Thursday game tonight. I was making my Friday Water Cooler picks and I thought I'd post my night game's pick right here before I post it tomorrow:

Tennessee Tech over #23 Tennessee-Martin. It's not like the Golden Eagles have played great all year. And it's not like the TN-Martin Skyhawks are bad. But after seeing how the Eagles won their first two league games by lots of good luck and perserverance, I think they keep this thing going in similar fashion with a decent defense and a lot of good luck. TT 24, TN-Martin 22.

Just in from the Jax State-Murray State game. Absolute domination by the Gamecocks. With Matt Griffin at the helm, I bet that one of the last times we'll do that to the Racers, though.

Now I'm pulling for Tech against Martin (just don't tell my readers over at The OVC Football Blog (http://ovcfootball.blogspot.com) ... I'm suppsoed to be impartial ;). Keep the updates coming, Ralph!

Tennessee tech plays more Thursday games than anyone else. Dunno why.

JSU normally plays one Thursday night game per year, and Samford normally does one too. I don't know about anyone else.

Call it homerism, but Jax State would have a case for an at-large at 9-2, perhaps 8-3 depending on what shakes out in the rest of the Division.

Certainly not outside the realm of possibility, but you'll need to beat Chatty first of all - heck, with Miss St still on the schedule you will certainly need to run the table outside of that game. 8-3 is surely possible, but Jax St would be a pretty significant longshot - not impossible, though, as you say.

Green, Jacksonville State Rout Murray State, 49-17

Jacksonville – Senior tailback Clay Green found the end zone three times and moved into fourth on Jacksonville State’s all-time rushing list to lift the Gamecocks to a 49-17 rout of Murray State in Ohio Valley Conference action on Thursday night at Paul Snow Stadium.

It's certainly not a foregone conclusion by any means, but I'm not any more worried about the UTC game than I am any of the others left on the Gamecocks' schedule.

Besides, the Mocs don't care if they win against JSU. At least, their coach doesn't: "I didn't come here to beat Jacksonville State," (http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_91612.asp) Rodney Allison tells us, after all.

One game at a time ... Mississippi State is the only team that matters right now.

We have the talent to win out. The only game we might be out talented will be the Mississippi State game. I'm more worried about EIU than any others.
