I'm not very surprised. I don't know what happened that night, but Kim Myers seemed to be by his side from Day 1, and she didn't want the case prosecuted. While they could have proceeded without her cooperation, that would have required witnesses. I doubt many of them would have wanted to testify against a start athlete in a case they probably doubted would end in a guilty verdict. The D.A. in Boston did the smart thing, no point wasting money....
On the other hand, I hope somebody in the Phillies organization is still taking this seriously and steps are taken to help him.
Incidently, does he have a rep for losing his temper?

Actually, press reports said that the prosecutors were disappointed because they thought they had a strong case, including witnesses. The Phillies are providing the couple with counseling. Myers does have a reputation for being a hothead. I just hope history doesn't repeat itself.

Agreed. This is where I'm hoping the presence of someone like Jamie Moyer can have a positive influence on Myers. He's definitely a 'head case'. Tremendous 'upside' potential from a physical standpoint. Could become another Schilling.

I wouldn't go that far...
Having lived in the Boston area, I'm going to make a few "guesses" as to the witnesses...
The incident took place, during tourist season, in a part of town where many tourists stay. Coupled with the fact that it occurred nearly 2 hours before "last call," I surmise that most of the witnesses were from "out of town."
That alone makes this a difficult case to proceed on if the spouse is unwilling to testify...
Anyway, has anyone stopped to ask themselves if, just maybe, she deserved it? :D :D
(Yeah, I expect, and deservedly so, to get a lot of criticism for that last comment. I'll accept it, because even I ackowledge it's a horrible joke.)
