You are missing the mark if you don't have John Robertson in your top two or three right now. He has been incredible in recent weeks and is the top quarterback in FCS right now in my mind. No one combines the run and pass in a QB as well as Robertson and that is with tons of injuries surrounding him on the Villanova offense and every team keying on him. For me, it would be between Robertson and West.

Daly has the stats that are typical of a Buchanan Award winner, if he keeps it up, though Caraun Reid of Princeton is probably the best overall defensive player in FCS. Defensive tackles don't typically put up huge numbers, but he makes a huge difference in how teams scheme against the Princeton defense.

Martin Ruiz of Youngstown State has probably had the most freshman impact thus far.

If Robertson keeps up what he has done the last two weeks then I will definitely have him in my top 3.

Reid probably won't even finish in the top 5 but I have him up there because he is definitely dictating games.

Daly is definitely running away with it. One more monster game and he likely puts his stamp on the award.

You do know it is pronounced Live-ers, not Liv-ers?

Last season, I had the misfortune of sitting near the Temple University student radio broadcasters during the season-opening Temple-Villanova game at Lincoln Financial. They were so unprepared they were calling Poppy "Liv-ers." I finally had to correct them at halftime.

John Robertson is the most dynamic player in the CAA right now. Terrence West my ass. Robertson is putting up comparable rushing numbers as a quarterback. Add in his passing game which can best be describe as efficient, and he's CAA POY in my eyes right now, and a Payton top 5.

Daly has to keep at the same level through the season. You can't afford a letdown.

If the voters knew anything other than stats, they would have Reid near the top.

West is a beast, the best RB in FCS right now, but I'd vote Robertson one and West two.

I haven't seen Reid play, but Daly is more than just stats. He has evolved from a rush end to so much more. He should easily be the defensive MVP of the conference, even if he got -0- more sacks.

Daly is legit. I'm pretty conservative and I put a draftable grade on him but scouts are giving him even higher grades. He would probably go in the 4th-5th round right now. I have him just a little lower but still in the draft. I have seen Reid 4 times this year and he's a top 100 pick. Reid already has one all-star bowl invite and is likely to have another one in the next 3-4 weeks.

You need to see him. I've been lucky to see just about everyone this year and as good as Daly is on the edge Reid is a big impact player inside. He can play the three and one technique and has played end some as well.

I won't lie. If I were a NFL team, there are 4 DL in the FCS right now I would jump to take on my team and Daly and Reid are two of them.

If I were putting a two-deep DL in FCS together I would love the talent and depth. I would pick DT Caraun Reid, DT Zach Kerr, DE Zach Hodges, DE Brad Daly, DE Rakim Cox, DE Davis Tull, DE Terrence Fede (I would move to DT), DT Robert Simpson, and DE Shaquille Riddick. Every single one of those guys are legit All-Americans and will be in a NFL camp. This is a very deep group of DL this season and three of those guys are juniors. I think Reid, Kerr, and Fede are extremely underrated while Riddick is going to blow up and be a mid round guy by next year if he keeps up his progression! I hope I didn't just jinx him! lol

I rarely see anyone OOC play live. But we're thankful to have Root Sports for the BSC and Max Media for the rest of the Montana / Montana State games. I've been able to watch almost every BSC team in HD this year!!

That will surely work in Brad's favor this year if he keeps it up.

Yes it is a stat award. Caraun Reid is the best defensive player but he doesn't have the stats so he has no shot at it right now. If he has say a 8 tackle, 3 TFL, 2 sack game two weeks in a row then he becomes a legit candidate but I do think it's probably too late, either way. Daly wins it, IMO. The Payton is up for grabs right now. I think West, Garoppolo, Adams, Robertson, Zenner, Nebrich, and Taliaferro are in a sprint to the finish trying to separate themselves.

Why wouldn't Adams be higher on your list? Is it just because he's an underclassman? I can understand the EIU QB and Towson's West at the top, but I think Adams' numbers are right there with them. Adams is on track for nearly 4,000 passing, and 500 rushing, with 45 TD's passing, 3 rushing, vs 12 INTs. Armanti Edwards averaged 3,700 yards (total, both rushing and passing) and 35 TDs (total, rushing and passing) over his four years at ASU. Adams gets more yards and TDs through the air than on the ground compared to AE, but he's on track to put up significantly better numbers this year than AE did during 2008 and 2009 when he won the award. Just sayin'...

Many around the country probably don't know this, but Brad Daly has been playing hurt on almost every snap this year, with a hip pointer and a back injury. He's been amazing to watch as he slowly picks himself up after a play and then goes like a bat out of H-ll on the next. Great motor!!

He is but he has the most picks of the 3 QBs in my top 6. Him being younger is part of it as well. Next year he, West, Crowell, Robertson, Nebrich, and Zenner could by in for the most crowded Payton race we have seen in a long time!
