Rumors have it that UNI has brought in two 1-A transfers for defense. One is a former HS All-American Linebacker and the other a top 25 defensive end.

Illinois LB Cyrus Garrett 6'3" 230lbs. (Would be a junior)

Minnesota DE Everette Pedescleaux 6'5" 240lbs. (Would be a redshirt freshman)

If true, UNI's stock continues to rise. Send the news to Street&Smith's and maybe they'll pick UNI to beat Drake!

Defense has always been the Rhodies' problem (80th nationally in total defense at 378 yards per game, 96th in scoring defense at 32.27 points per game), so this should help a lot. Their spread option attack was fourth nationally in rushing (279.45 yards per game) and 56th in total offense (364.73 per game). The Rams do have eight of their 11 starters back on defense, but only one linebacker, so Cyrus Garrett could be a big addition.

From PantherNation.com. There have been rumors of linebacker transfers for sometime, but no names. This is the first to surface, and the fact that a name has been put out there probably means that there is legs to this rumor. The kid is from Bollingbrook, and we had a player from that area last year I think (Titus Ivory). That may have helped. Tomorrow is the football golf outing. We should hear for sure tomorrow.

Ralph, you are from this area...what do you think about Cyrus?

By the way, Pedescleaux is coming for sure. He has been seen on campus and enrolled.

Just two more guys who will be trying to track down Scott Phaydavong from behind in the open field in week 1*

*This statement will prove true only if Phaydavong is able to escape his own backfield, as we're going to have a young inexperienced o-line after the graduation of the so called "four horsemen" up front.

The picture was taken at an unfortunate angle. Even in the distance, those ball boys appear to be about the same size.

As fast as he is, he must've been tough to see behind offensive linemen 9 inches taller and 170 pounds bigger.

Doesn't UNI have a little man as well?

Little Richard Carter graduated last year. Although we have some 5'8"/5'9" young running backs...but those heights aren't close to that of Richard who was like 5'4".

Short running backs can use their stature to advantage if they are strong. One of the best we've ever had at W&M was Michael Clemons who went on to play two years for the Chiefs before becoming one of the greatest CFL players ever for Toronto. He was 5'6" and 160 and had 3,000 all-purpose yards in one season. He is known in Canada as "Pinball" Clemons and now coaches the Argonauts.
