Former Furman soccer standout Clint Dempsey was named U.S. Player of the Year. Clint was drafted after his sophomore season at Furman by the New England Revolution. He was also the only US player to score a goal in this year's World Cup.

It's a shame the MLS turned down Charlton's offer of $1.5 million, because this kid has the talent to play at the next level. : smh :
