Well, we still have some folks here who's teams are in the playoffs, but who do you want to win the four series?

AL Divisional series
New York vs. Detroit
Minnesota vs. Oakland

NL Divisional series
New York vs. Los Angeles
San Diego vs. St. Louis

I doubt I'll watch a single pitch of any of these games, but I guess I'm rooting for Detroit and Minnesota in the AL and New York and St. Louis in the NL.

If any of the West Coast teams make it to the World Series, will there be 10 p.m. games? If so, have fun watching those, cause I'll never make it.

Detroit, Minny, Mets, and Pads.

I guess the MLB officials are rooting hard for a NY/NY or a NY/LA World Series.

LOL How about a repeat of the 1984 WS, San Diego vs. Detroit??

well the ole saying is that streaks come in bunches, maybe finally turning the ship around at the very last minute will translate into a deep playoffs run. I am just glad to be here and will take my chance now that we can throw Carpenter multiple times in each series, when he is on, there is no one who is better. Now that Pedro wont pitch for the Mets, i really dont think there will be anyone who can beat the Cards in a series when throwing Carp three times and Suppan is pitching very well since the All-Star break, and Weaver has been very good on the road. Hey, its October, anything can happen. Maybe its our turn to get the monkey off our back of not winning a championship in 24 years...

Yanks, Twins, Cards, Dodgers

Nope, they usually all start at 8pm. Even weekend games.

Pards football predictions are shot to heck.. so let's make some realistic playoff picks...

ALDS: Yankees over Detriot 3-2; Twins over A's 3-1
NLDS: Mets over Dodgers 3-2; Padres over Cardinals 3-0

ALCS: Twins over Yankees 4-1 (even though Yanks are 7-2 in CS play under Torre or somethign like that)
NLCS: Mets over Padres 4-3

World Series: Twins over Mets 4-2

Gooooo Twins!

Yeah, over half the country would be in bed. The eastern half of the country would miss it.. and we contain likely 70percent of the population.. that means bad TV ratings for a 1030 start.

Here's what I'm rooting for:

Round 1:
Yanks over Detroit (Yankee fan)
A's over Twins (Moneyball fan)
Mets over Dodgers (Subway Series fan)
SD over Cards (Not a Larussa fan - maybe because of his role as a first enabler of the steroid era)

Round 2:
Yanks and Mets

World Series:
Yanks over Mets

The Dodgers over the Mets. Remember the Dodgers have played more post season games in New York than the Mets. The Dodgers are on a 7 game win streak. They had what, 17 in a row earlier this year. Now is the time to go for 18 in a row. The first World Series televised in San Luis Obispo was 1953. And I watched it. Dodgers and Yankees. Lets do it again.

Their skid would be over, 3-2 in their last five, kinda like what we have to do now isnt it...
For once, the Cards are the favorites, and i think it will do them som good. They finally have most of their injuried guys back, Eckstein, Edmonds, etc. And no pressure to actually win since they arent the "best". No worries from me.
Ill take Suppan who is 6-2 with an ERA under 3.00 since the All Star Break over David-Freakin-Wells anyday...

I'm not going to try to console ya'll with the cliche "there's always next year." That's like getting punched in the face with an iron spike. I will say this though:

The Yankees are and always will be the GREATEST baseball team ever. We didn't make it to the big showdown, for reasons I don't feel like getting into at the moment, but the heart and history of this organization doesn't compare to any other. Win or lose, I'll always be a Yankees fan. Even in moments like this, I don't regret one minute of the 15 years I've stuck by them. It's been a privilege and an honor.

Lets go Yankees

But you also have a bunch of guys that have a minimal amount of experience in the playoffs, as well as how badly Kenny Rogers has pitched in the post-season. I guess the way that the Yankees and the A's were swinging the bats, it is surprising that th Tigers have shut them down as well as they did/have.
