Gamecocks looking much better so far, with Clay Green rolling up more yards so far than he had in the entire game against UT-Martin.
EKU is keeping pressure on Matt Hardin, but he's managed to pull off a couple excellent completions.
The Colonels are in unfamiliar territory, without the lead at halftime. I hope they're not saving it for the second half this time. Mark Dunn is dangerous when he gets his engines running and finds room to run.
Elsewhere in the OVC, it's 3-0 FAMU over Tennessee State with 3:39 left in the first half. Rattlers have the ball at their 20-something.

POST-GAME NOTES:
- JSU Game Captains: Kenny Brown, George Summers, Raynodd Zeine.
- EKU’s 114 yards of total offense set a new school record for fewest yards allowed by a JSU team.
- JSU held the Colonels to 43 yards rushing, the fewest by a JSU opponent since Knoxville College ran for 15 yards on September 30, 1995.
- Drew Robinson made his first career start today against Eastern Kentucky.
- Jax State recorded its first shutout since a 21-0 win over Samford (21-0) on Oct. 17, 1998 – a streak of 85 games.
- The Gamecocks scored a touchdown on their opening drive for the second time this season. JSU also scored a touchdown on the opening drive vs. SEMO back on Sept. 16.
- Sophomore Zach Walden had a 75 yard punt in the first quarter, which set a school Division I record for longest punt. It broke the record of 74, set by Richie Rhodes, set against Troy State on Nov. 17, 2001. It was the second time that Walden punted for longer than 70 yards and just the fifth punt of 70 yards or more in JSU history.
- The Gamecocks did not commit a turnover, the first time that has happened since Oct. 22, 2005 against Tennessee State.
- The JSU defense still has not allowed an offensive touchdown this season during the first half. JSU has not allowed any points during the second quarter.
- Junior Taurean Rhetta broke through with 9:05 left in the third quarter to block his fourth career punt. It was the second straight game that Rhetta has blocked a punt.
- JSU scored a safety after Rhetta’s blocked punt with 9:05 left in the third quarter. It was the first time that JSU recorded a safety since the third quarter against Emporia State on Sept. 4, 2004.
- Senior All-American Clay Green rushed for 131 yards, which marked his 11th career 100-yard rushing game. It was his second 100-yard rushing game this season. Green has rushed for a touchdown in three straight games.
- With 131 rushing yards, Green moved into fifth place on JSU’s career rushing list, ahead of Terry Thomas (1985-88) total of 2,334. Green now has (2360).
- Green scored two rushing touchdowns in the game, which marked the seventh time in his career he has rushed for two or more touchdowns.
- The 36-yard run by Raynodd Zeine late in the third quarter was his longest of the season and ties his career long.
- Sophomore Gavin Hallford kicked two field goals in the game, the second time this season he made a pair of field goals. He hit from 37 yards and 27 yards and is now a perfect 7-for-7 from 20-29 yards during his career and 5-of-8 from 30-39 yards during his career.
- The Gamecock defense held EKU to just five yards in the third quarter (on nine snaps), and a mere two yards on 10 snaps in the fourth quarter.
- Jax State finished the game with five sacks for 41 yards, but had entered the game with only three sacks all season. LeMarcus Rowell led the JSU defense with two sacks, while Aaron Jones, Devin Phillips, and had one sack each.

- JSU improved to 3-1 against the Colonels and 2-0 in Richmond.
- JSU has now won six-straight OVC road games, dating back to a 16-13 loss at Tennessee Tech on Oct. 23, 2004.
- The shut-out was the first for EKU at home since Appalachian State (19-0) on Nov. 14, 1998

Huh? I'd like to forget last week too, but forgetting won't erase the loss to UT-Martin.

I am proud if the Gamers. But, I'm shock at EKU not showing up in the second half. Thought it would be a much better game.
If the Gamers hadn't lost to UT-Farm last week, we'd be in the cat-bird seat. Oh well, Murray's up Thursday night.
