Shocked I hadn't heard about this before today, the murder occurred in July 2012.

The article refers to him as "alleged accomplice" but only lists his charges as conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to violate narcotics laws, which seems a far cry from murder. Legal minds chime in, it sounds to me like Pitts knew the accused and planned and/or committed drug related crimes with him, and planned to rob the deceased, who was (allegedly) killed by Pitts' acquaintance, thereby implicating Pitts, whether or not Pitts was actively involved and/or had any knowledge of the killing (or the plan to kill, if it was premeditated).

Oh and the deceased was a Villanova student as well.
