Ok, I'll just post in this thread. We don't need two on the same game.

thirdgendin

Wofford is putting 9 in the box, trying to stop Furman's ground game. Paladins just benefitted from a 3rd down, live-ball offsetting personal foul penalty that negated an incomplete pass. Gray completed to Stepp, and Furman has moved down near Wofford's 20.

PaladinFan

Radio says that Wofford is stacking 9 in the box. Looks like Renaldo Gray will be throwing a bunch today.

The next drive is key for Furman. So far on offense, we have two three-and-outs and a TD drive that was saved by offsetting penalties negated a 3rd down incompletion.

Furman looks to be moving the ball at will against the Terriers. Wofford came out trying to shut down the run....and for a while did. However, with Gray being that efficient through the air, Wofford will have to respect that.

I would expect the Furman run game to crank up again the second half.

Just got home from the game! :hurray: Wow, what a great day for our offense. The defense looked really good too. They played back alot, let WC have alot of the short stuff, but pretty much kept them under control, and stuffed them when it counted. That fourth quarter goal line stand was awsome. I kept wanting them to get more guys in the box, and put more pressure on the QB, but Lamb must know what he's doing, they only allowed on TD.

My only concern is our special teams. They played more like a special needs team today. Can Beckler suck any more? When are they gonna get a replacement for him....I mean I understand wanting to give the kid a chance, but damn.:bang:

Anyway, great game, beautiful day, and another big old W. We're looking good folks.

Went to Sparklecity and enjoyed this one live and am just getting around to posting myself. You guys have already touched on what I was going to say. Defense gives up only 1 TD, we scored more than SC, Felton is a god, etc.

Furman had a nice crowd there and we were loud and proud for most of the game. What took us out of it at the end was our wretched special teams. He had 3 punts, one of which was blocked, one was a shank, and other was a "boomer" for about 30 yards. Two missed FGs. One kickoff returned against us for a TD. That blocked punt was run back as well and there was no excuse for what happened on that play. We had a delay of game penalty just before the 2nd missed FG which pushed the kick back out of Beckler's range. Overall, it was awful.

What I haven't seen yet is a mention about how poorly the play calling and 25 second clock was managed today. There were at least a 1/2 dozen times when the call didn't come in from the sidelines until there was only about 10-12 seconds left. Twice the refs got tired of waiting on our "sideline huddles" to break up and made a trip-to-the-mound to break it up. I'm not sure what was up with Coach Lamb today, but it certainly wasn't his best day.

Furman has been struggling to get the play in on time for the at least the last 5 years (that's all the experience I have with FU fooball dating back to my freshman year). That's nothing new. I only listened to the game, so you can speak to it better than I can, but that really doesn't sound out of the ordinary for Furman. Definitely not our best effort, but a W is a W.

I was at Gibbs stadium today. Definitely the most bizzare experience I have had at a football game. First of all, Wofford did not have a band AT ALL. It was so weird, because they had this techno and alternative rock playing during all the breaks, and it didn't really feel like you were at a football game. My favorite part of the stadium is that it is raised above the field, unlike Paladin Stadium where you are right at field level and don't have any depth perception at all if you're sitting down low. We had a very good crowd and were much louder than the Wofford folks at the game. Furman played pretty well, and dominated Wofford for the most part. Not as polished an effort as last week, but its a good conference road win and I'll take it.

Of course you were much louder than Wofford-- you obviously had more to cheer about. As far as alternative rock-- more like 80s stuff-- unless of course you are much younger than me-- then I guess AC/DC would be alternative/techno (don't tell Ralph)xlolx

I am more worried about the football team than whether we have a band at this point. To play a team like Furman and win you have to play perfect. We were a very long way from that today.

Furman is impressive and well balanced; as many have pointed out special teams is their weakest area. Good win Paladins.

I have to differ with you on the play calling. The first couple of drives BL was playing close to the vest. Woffy made some good calls on slants. Then BL started letting Gray put the game in his hands. Furman set Woffy up running Felton on the inside draw on the spread over and over then bam fake to Felton, touchdown Sprague as he gets behind the entire Wofford defense.

After that I got the feeling BL felt like he didn't need to show anymore. This team is in it for the long run. Furman has alot more offense in the tank… and that's scary. Wofford had two weeks to prep for Furman and Ayers got flat out coached and he said it.

Wofford had some spark to start the game, but once Furman's D settled down and made some minor adjustments, the game was over. Furman left a lot of points on the board. Furman's D played good assignment football and kept Kevious Johnson to limited gains. Unless Wofford can mix it up a little more, I project they'll have a pretty long season.

Ha, yeah I forgot about Hells Bells on third downs.

I was surprised that Johnson didn't get the ball more. I realize y'all's offense isn't designed for one guy to get 20-25 carries, but that guy can make some plays.
