Big South football continues this Saturday, Oct. 5, with four teams in action – including 5-0 Charleston Southern at home against North Greenville available for FREE on the Big South Network. North Greenville Crusaders (4-0) at CHARLESTON SOUTHERN BUCCANEERS (5-0) • CSU Stadium • 11:00am • Big South Network
• This is the 12th meeting between the schools. Charleston Southern leads the series, 10-1.
• The Bucs have won the last seven meetings, including ‘09 -- CSU coach JAMEY CHADWELL’s first year at NGU.
• Charleston Southern is looking to become just the third Big South team to start 6-0.
• RB CHRISTIAN REYES (516) is 60 rushing yards away from matching CSU’s leading rushing total from 2012.
• DE WILL HUNT has recorded at least five tackles and one TFL in all but one game this season.
#24/25 GARDNER-WEBB RUNNIN’ BULLDOGS (4-1) at Charlotte 49ers (3-2) • Richardson Stadium • 12:00pm • WCCB-TV
• This is the first meeting between the schools, and the third of four first-time opponents for GWU this season.
• Gardner-Webb is looking to win back-to-back FCS road games for the first time since 2009.
• GWU has held its three FCS opponents to 10.3 points, 81.3 rushing yards and 233.3 yards of offense per game.
• DLs SHAQUILLE RIDDICK and PRESTON PEMASA have recorded a TFL in all five games this season.
• RB JUANNE BLOUNT is third in the Big South with 97.6 rushing yards per game.
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE (1-3) at #15/17 Wofford Terriers (2-2) • Gibbs Stadium • 1:30pm
• This is the 82nd meeting between the schools. Presbyterian College leads the series, 40-38-3.
• PC’s last win in the series came in 1994 when the Blue Hose defeated the Terriers, 10-7 in Spartanburg.
• RB DEMARCUS ROUSE is averaging 84.2 rush yards and has scored two rushing TDs in back-to-back games.
• QB KALEB GRIFFIN is third in the nation with a 73.3 completion percentage this season.
• Presbyterian College is tied for the fewest sacks allowed in the Big South with four.
LIBERTY FLAMES (3-2) at Old Dominion Monarchs (3-2) • Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium • 6:00pm • Cox 114
• This is the first meeting between the schools, and the third of four first-time opponents for the Flames.
• Liberty is looking to win its first non-Conference road game since the 2010 season.
• RB DESMOND RICE has recorded a rushing touchdown in the last four games and has a team-high six.
• All four of WR DARRIN PETERSON’s TD catches this year have been for 20 or more yards (47.3 average).
• The teams are averaging a combined 87.2 points per game this season (Old Dominion - 49.8; Liberty - 37.4).
#6/9 COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS (5-0) idle
• Coastal Carolina is idle this week and returns to action Oct. 12 in its Big South opener against Gardner-Webb.
• The Chanticleers are 5-0 for the first time in program history.
• Coastal Carolina has tied the Big South record with its three consecutive 50-point games.
• RB LORENZO TALIAFERRO’s 691 rushing yards are the second-most after five games in Big South history.
• QB ALEX ROSS is averaging 309.0 yards of total offense in his last three games.
VMI KEYDETS (1-4) idle
• VMI is idle this week and returns to action Oct. 12 in its Big South opener against Charleston Southern.
• The Keydets will be the only Big South team this season to play its Conference games in succession.
• QB ERIC KORDENBROCK needs 262 passing yards to become the seventh Big South QB with 6,000 yards.
• VMI’s six interceptions this season already match last year’s entire total, and the squad is even in turnovers.
• Kordenbrock leads the Big South with three multi-TD pass games and three 300-yard passing efforts.
