Not meant as smack, but simply information, an Elon fan who posted on another board that "ASU's wait another 40 years to honor an all time great in Larry Hand. is shameful"

Actually Larry Hand was inducted into the ASU Athletics Hall of Fame back in 1975. The very first year that the Hall of Fame was created. He was only the third person from ASU's athletics history to be inducted. Quite an honor.

The jersey retiring thing in football has only been restarted in the past year. Only John Settle, Dexter Coakley, Dino Hackett, and now Larry Hand's have been retired. Pretty exclusive company.

Nothing disgraceful about this event.

Yeah, we haven't retired that many jerseys, and it seems like they've all been retired recently.

I would love to be able to buy a #71 throwback jersey.

You're right, those mentioned are the only ones. All were quite recent except for John Settle's which was retired as he graduated in '86.
