I've got a few really minor gripes, but overall, this poll most accurately resembles my poll to date.
UCA is not deserving of the top 25, MSU is not deserving of the top 10. The top 8 is phenomenal. I would put SIU and SELA in. Otherwise I like it, a lot.

Central Arkansas has no business in this poll at THIS POINT IN THE SEASON. If they go on a tear...then yes.
Montana State is too high.
SDSU potentially too high.
Delaware is way too low.
How Charleston Southern is not in...not sure.
Otherwise...Great poll.

I only had one issue in my poll where I messed up and ommited the Bobcats where I had them at #12 but my poll has another team in the slot. I must have been really tired. Otherwise my poll is pretty close to this with the exception being 15-25 especially 20-25 but I think that's to be somewhat expected.

CSU has 149 points, they likely weren't higher than 23 24 or 25, and there are 70 polls. That means almost every single person had them in their poll. They average something like 23.88th place in each poll. You have some teams infront of them that had 23 24 or 25th place plus a few higher rankings scattered in to put them ahead of CSU.

They moved up only 6 spots b/c of #11 being overrated, not due to being in a weak conference or being hated on. #11 FELL 15 spots to #26.

I think Coastal Carolina is too high, Charleston-Southern has shown to be just as impressive so far in my estimation and they're not even ranked. I still think CCU should be ranked higher than CSU but it's not that big of a difference. However, I know from putting together my poll that teams 8-13 were tough. I felt there were a lot of teams deserving of being ranked in the top 25 but after the top 7 I had a hard time trying to separate the 8-20 teams. Here's my stab this week:
1: North Dakota State Bison
2: Towson Tigers
3: Northern Iowa Panthers
4: Sam Houston State Bearkats
5: Eastern Illinois Panthers
6: Eastern Washington Eagles
7: Fordham Rams

How Charleston Southern is not in...not sure.
Because they have played no quality teams. News Flash: The Citadel and App St suck this year. Good on them for those road victories, but their resume is not really all that impressive. They have 4 more easy games before they start the gauntlet beginning 9 Nov and take on Caostal, Gardner Webb, and Liberty. They could be 9-0 at that point but it still would not be overly impressive considering the opponents. Win one or two of their last three and I will give em a vote.

You have to realize the poll only reflects average placement versus other teams.
This is the average poll placement of each team in the top 10. Both MSU and SDSU average 12th place on the ballots, but that still makes them the 9th and 10th best teams according to the point system. No team averages 4th place, 6th place, 8th place, 10th place, 11th place, etc. But more than 25 teams average higher than 23.88th place, which puts CSU on the outside of the top 25, even though mostly everyone if not everyone ranked them in the top 25.
NDSU 1 averages 25 points per ballot.
Towson 2.33 averages 23.67 points per ballot
SHSU 3.12 averages 22.88 points per ballot
UNI 3.12 averages 22.88 points per ballot
EIU 5.46 etc.
EWU 7.36
Fordham 7.49
CCU 9.62
MSU 12.22
SDSU 12.3

I don't disagree entirely with your statement. However, I think compared to other teams, for example Bethune, they are just as worthy.
Speaking of Bethune-- Please someone explain to me their ranking? FIU is beyond garbage. Virginia Union is an AWFUL DII team this season. I can't gather what to make of Tenn State. FSU...well...they are just very good.
So...what is Bethune's claim to fame? A win over an FIU team that would barely be in the Top 40 of FCS...and I do mean barely at best. And a win over a bad DII and a Top 40 (at best) Tenn State.

They didn't just beat FIU, they crushed them. Even a bad FBS (with the exception Georgia St) is a quality win especially when by that margin. Tennessee St was also a good win. That's two quality wins which is as much or more than most other teams in the top 25 can claim. I have them at #17 so I don't think they're world beaters but I think they're definitely deserving of that spot.

Crushed? Really? How so? I really want to hear this argument.
Bethune rushed the crap out of FIU and stuffed the FIU run game. Conversely, the passing game was non-existent for Bethune while FIU's offense relied on the pass and did well.
Bethune had one score courtesy of a 92 yard INT return.
Bethune had 50% of the TOP for the game, which is understandable because they played ground and pound with a mind-boggling 52 rushing attempts. A large majority of the TOP came in the 3rd Qtr.
3rd down, 4th down and Red-zone conversions were nearly identical. BCU had their way on first down.
So...like I said, FIU is barely capable of being a Top 40 team in FCS play. Nice win for BCU...but this is the only reason they are ranked, IMHO. It's not reason enough.

One of the tougher weeks I can remember. I feel very good about my top 8 and it is close to the masses, but my 9-22 could be anywhere in that range. I wouldn't complain if my 9 was 22 and vice versa - it was very difficult to do and this weekend has at least 5 matchups at first glance that should clear the muddy waters.

All valid points. I will admit B-C has snuck into my poll, barely. Primarily based upon their perf against FIU. I have so many crowding just outside of 25 that I can probably find a replacement fairly easily but I just have a feeling that B-C is pretty good so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But they are on my boot list in case they falter even a bit.

That win over Tenn State, is a top 40 win. As a matter of fact, Tennessee State is in the top 25 of the Massey Ratings. And a win over FIU is still a win over an FBS team, and is equivalent to any team that gained voting favor by defeating Georgia State or UMass.

I'm not going to take issue with saying that CCU is too high. It is early in the season and it is difficult to tell really where these teams will end up at year's end. However, to say that CSU has been "just as impressive" as CCU thus far is a bit absurd. CCU has dropped 50+ points for three straight games - first time in conference history. CCU has dropped 500+ yards for three straight games and, I believe, have racked up 600+ in consecutive games. I don't think you can point to one thing that CSU has done that has been remotely as impressive as the LEAST impressive thing Coastal has done, let alone "just as".
Dispute Coastal's ranking all you want (FYI - they're ranked #6 in the Coaches Poll that was just released, while CSU only garnered 41 'other' votes), but let's not compared the Bucs and Chanticleers as being equals here.

CCU's ranking could have been the toughest question to answer on my poll this time around. It is hard to gauge how good they are. I think I probably put them too high in my poll, but man, 5-0 with road wins at some pretty tough FCS venues... it was hard to justify dropping them below other teams.

I made a comment about them on the Liberty board...I really am not sold on them as being the third best team in the Big South. Citdog's boys have not impressed this year and App State (with all deference to Apphole and the rest of Mountaineer Nation on here) is not the same since Jerry Moore left. Personally Id put Gardner-Webb as the third team in the Big South ahead of the Bucs, and they really are not doing much to help their chances playing North Greenville this week (regardless of the fact that they beat VMI, who is the conference dumpster fire this year).
8: Montana State Bobcats

I don't have my ballot here at work or I would post it...
In my mind, 1-6 were easy (NDSU, UNI, SHSU, Towson, EIU, EWU --in that order), 7-15 or so are interchangeable all good teams capable of winning a lot of games, but not sure which team is better than the next, some of them will step up, some will fall, I figure it will shake out over the next few weeks, 16-35 is a cluster... there are about 20 teams that could claim they deserve to be ranked in this range (I figure this is where regional bias is going to show the most) but seriously, it too will balance out in the next few weeks.

I agree at this point. At least until 9 Nov when it will be answered for certiain. I think it will play out like everyone thinks though. CCU has done great this year to date. CSU is better this year than last, but not ready for prime time yet. They could very well lose their last three and end up at 9-3. A good year and great for the program, but not playoff material.

Their best win is South Carolina St which doesn't impress me all that much. I thought EKU was a good win when they beat them but it's looking less and less like that. Furman is a decent win but I don't see quality wins in that group that justifies them being at #8. I definitely think they're in the top 20. But again, 8-20 for me was tough this week so it's not like I have a bunch of teams that definitely should be ranked above them, I'm just curious why the consensus is that they're the best of that 8-20 group.

I am not going to argue the rest of the poll because I could care less who you ranked where AND because the committee should have notified you that your poll was going to be tossed for so many ERRORS unless you fixed it.

Figured you meant Nova in that spot, and frankly not concerned with the 5 points, but if that ballot did go through it is a bit upsetting bc of the 2 teams you have listed twice. That's a lot of free points/points denied other teams.

You are entitled to your opinion and if that's where you wanted the Griz, that's fine. However, last week you had the Griz at #7, so the loss to NAU gained them a spot in the rankings??? And NAU either increase one spot or decreased one depending on if you meant to put them at 23 or 25.

I think you're undervaluing SDSU. They lost to an FBS team that's on the fringe of the AP Top 25 and in the Coach's Top 25 and to the consensus #1 FCS team in the country. They've beaten a good SELA team. I think they'll bounce back but I wouldn't be surprised to see UNH do the same and both end up in the playoffs.

SDSU lost to the #1 at home by 20, UNH lost on the road to a Top 20 team by 7. I mean really? Who cares between the two teams. And one could still be undervaluing UNH as well. SDSU got smoked by a fringe Top 25 team, UNH barely lost to to a bad FBS team. SDSU lost to the #1 at home by 20, UNH lost on the road to a Top 20 team by 7. I mean really? Who cares between the two teams. The only reason i feel this is debated is because some how this circles back to Lehigh. Which would be ridiculous if true...
You're waaaaaay too defensive about Lehigh. I'm merely saying that SDSU has lost two games that pretty much any other FCS team in the country would be expected to lose and they have a good win against SE Louisiana. UNH was simply the easiest team to pick out in front of SDSU in your ballot but I'd also argue that SDSU should be ahead of teams like Central Arkansas or William & Mary.

You weren't notified? It is incumbent on YOU the voter to look over your ballot and notify US. We try to give each vote a gander and catch everything we can but you only have ONE ballot to look at and we normally have to sort 80-120 even though this week was 70 I think you get a picture of the fairly large task.
Check your own ballots and alert us to anything you messed up.

Start looking at your damn ballots and help us all do a little better job if you are not doing so. That is pathetic on AGS' part and bj you certainly share in that shame. You are the first line of defense on these matters so you not doing your job won't be set aside as just my fault here.

I revised the poll after pulling bj's ballot.
That has been a problem in the past and it is normally caught and I am sort of ashamed that it wasn't this time. As I said you need to look at your own ballot and try to be the first one that notices a mistake and gets back to us because outside of that mistake when you select a team you did not intend to it is a lot tougher for us to know that it was not intentional than it is for you to know that.

Yeah, mistakes are common, not catching them is not. Crushed? Really?
It amazes me how Bethune being ranked is even a question. The question is why are they ranked as low as they are. For years all we heard was the OOC schedule was so week and they need to strengthen their schedule.
1. So we schedule Tennessee State (OVC) and win on the road. A defensive battle but a solid Top 40 win. Since losing Tennessee State has reeled off 4 straight wins, which makes this win even better. When Tennessee State makes the playoffs, it will be that much more impressive. Don't sleep on the Tigers this year.
2. Virginia Union was scheduled only due to UCF buying out of a scheduled game. We beat a D2 team exactly how you should (66 - 7). Enough said.
3. We spanked, I mean dominated FIU on the road. A FBS squad, bad or not. We ran the ball down their throat and didn't need to pass. Why stop doing something if they can't stop it. Don't diminish our team because we beat the he!! out of them by running the ball. This was a statement win for B-CU and the MEAC. We were ranked 17th in the AGS poll after that victory.
4. We played the #8 team in the country (Florida State) and they beat us like they would beat probably all of the ranked FCS teams. We fell to #20 in the AGS poll after losing to a Top 10 team that is competing for a National Championship.
5. We are idle in week 5 and drop 4 spots in the AGS Poll to #24 and you are begging for justification to even be ranked. What a joke. The question is why are we not ranked higher. However, this is why we play the games. Delaware State is on the clock.

You are probably right but I can't get that SFA game out of my mind. I know DM was out but that loss was bad and they have zero quality wins to correct that loss. The NAU game should make things much clearer. I am not afraid to move a team way up, especially early in the season so if they win they'll be ahead of both NAU and the Griz.

I was thinking the blowouts of App State and UND are better than NAU's wins despite the head to head, but now it's looking like wins over App State and UND might not be worth a whole lot. It looks like the Griz have a common opponent in UC Davis after the bye, and NAU gets to go against Montana State, who seems to have come back strong this week after the QB issues, so, it'll all shake out.

Yes sir, agree on all points. I had said early Sunday that I really didn't feel like App or UND even being the blowouts they looked to be could be relied on at this point. Now no matter what NAU shouldn't have been able to do what they did to us and may not be able to again but the fact is they did do it and they just flat out mopped the floor with us and it should be recognized as such if you (anyone) viewed as a top 10-15 team.

Umm Wow, Where do I even start?
Lehigh at #6?
So Where is Central Connecticut State, that took your #6 to overtime in Bethlehem?
So Where is Princeton who only lost by 1 point to your #6?
So Where is Monmouth who only lost by 3 to your #6?
If you think Lehigh deserved to be #6, surely at least ONE of these 3 teams should be in your Top 25.
SDSU at #25?
Kinda harsh for their loss to #1 dontcha think?
Chuck South at #12??
Look everyone: Beating App State this year is NOT a big deal!
And Gardner-Webb is being propped up solely on a 3-0 win over Wofford in near hurricane-like conditions.
Delaware at #18 is a homer pick as well. I could see putting them in at maybe 24, no higher. Personally, I do not have the Hens ranked at all.
Your relative positioning of Montana, Montana State and NAU is perplexing as well.
EWU is certainly a Top 10 team if not Top 5. You have them at 14.

McGhee started the game, which surprised most everyone - we didn't think he'd be back for a couple more weeks. He played the first half.
Also, the team was pretty upset and embarrassed with their performances recently. I think they would have played more intensely anyway, but certainly having McGhee gave them a boost.

McGhee started the game, which surprised most everyone - we didn't think he'd be back for a couple more weeks. He played the first half.
Also, the team was pretty upset and embarrassed with their performances recently. I think they would have played more intensely anyway, but certainly having McGhee gave them a boost.
Thanks booster,
The Cats look like a completely different team with him in there.

CCSU is 1-4, and got blown out by Holy Cross and Rhody. Princeton is 1-1, with their only win against 1-4 Georgetown. Monmouth is 2-3.
SDSU is 3-2, but they're only real quality win is vs SELA.
Chuck South is 5-0, with wins over Appy, Norfolk State, and The Citadel. True, Appy and the Citadel are having down years, but those are still quality wins for a traditional bottom dweller, and this is the best start for Charleston Southern since '06. They have a new coach, and I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong.
Gardner-Webb also has wings against Furman and Richmond, again, not the strongest teams this year, but still quality wins.
I had EWU in the top five previously, but that was mostly on the strength of their week 1 win vs Oregon state. Since then they've only beaten a DII, and are now 2-2. I can't rank them any higher until that record improves.
I'll rank teams that I may believe are stronger overall lower than weaker teams depending on what those teams have proven so far on the field. I'm not trying to predict what the finishing order will be at the end of the season, just what's been proven on the field so far this season.

I think you completely missed my point about CCSU, PU, and Monmouth. These were 3 VERY close wins for Lehigh, which you have ranked at #6. Since the CCSU game was AT Lehigh and it went to overtime, one could even argue that CCSU was the better team because of homefield advantage for Lehigh. My point was that if Lehigh is truly the #6 team in the country, then one or more of these other 3 should be ranked as well, since they have demonstrated they are close in strength to Lehigh. You did not rank a single one of them. I see this as a glaring inconsistency in your rankings.
So you either:
1. should have ranked CCSU, PU, and/or Monmouth, OR
2. you have Lehigh ranked WAY too high.
Since you yourself have pointed out why those 3 don't deserve to be ranked, I'm going with the latter.

I had Lehigh outside the top ten, but the win against UNH bumped them up for me. One way or another, they're figuring out how to win games. They've executed several crazy come-from-behind victories this year, and that impresses me. Good teams figure out how to win, and Lehigh is doing that.
They might be a smidge high, but they play Fordham this week, so that will show if they're legitimate or pretenders.

So if they lose to Fordham, you'll drop them to what 11?
Are you LehighFootballNation in disguise? It would explain alot.
Yes, GOOD teams figure out ways to win.
GOOD team are ranked maybe 15-40 range.
GREAT TEAMS are ranked in the Top 10.
GREAT TEAMS eat teams like Monouth, PU and CCSU for breakfast, beat them by 40+ points and take their lunch money. Your other 9 Top 10 teams would have smoked those 3 and left NO DOUBT.

Why so high? This week will tell based on LU and UNH, but if you think LU should be 23, who am I to argue. xlolx

the bottom 5 of the top 25 is where pretty good teams that we don't know enough about yet should be.

I agree that this is where LU belongs for now. Our problem is after this weekend, there is not a lot that we can do t change perceptions. That will really be up to UNH.

SDSU lost to Nebraska, then took #1 to the 4th Qtr down 7 . . . and their too high? Holy Crap, really? With their losses, they could be ranked higher IMO.

Dear $citdog,You have now become "the new fan". Your disdain and pathetic posts on AGS have really become embarrassing.............for YOU. Sorry your Lehigh coach is not working out, but get the hell over it. Find a new hobby, wife or boyfriend and enjoy your retirement years.
FWIW,Citadel and VMI should play each other 12 times a year................that way both could win 5-6 games a year. I'd be pissed too if i loved the South and were stuck in Montana.
