The SWAC features two top 10 matchups between four ranked programs this week as six teams continue with three conference games. The SWAC also features two non-conference games versus the regionally located Southland Conference. The MEAC enters into their first week of conference competition with four games featuring four ranked teams. The three other MEAC squads are open. The lone independent, #3 Tennessee State of the OVC plays in the St. Louis Gateway Classic.

The Aggies of North Carolina A&T and the Bison of Howard University will face off in this week's MEAC Game of the Week. The Aggies are undefeated 2-0 against non-conference matchup, but both the Aggies and the Bison are coming off an open date of their respective schedules and are eager to enter into their conference portion of their schedules. This indeed is the first conference game of the season. The Aggies leadership begins with their senior, linebacker, D’Vonte Grant (5-10, 208lbs., Charlotte, NC). He was responsible for eight 8 solo tackles, six assists for a total of 14 tackles. As a result of his accomplishments, the Aggies were able to hold their opponents over the last two weeks to 154 rushing yards without allowing a touchdown in non-conference action. Senior, running back, Dominique Drake (5-10, 205lbs., Mount Gilead, NC) rushed for 93 yards on 22 carries and 1 touchdown with a win over the Elon Phoenix, 23-10. However, the Bison are seeking to challenge the Aggies as they look to freshman, running back, Anthony Philyaw (6-1, 210lbs., Los Angeles, CA) to be a playmaker against the Aggies aggressive defensive unit. Anthony rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown in a loss to Old Dominion the week before the opening date, 76-19.

tough loss for the Jags, congrats to JSU. Hopefully a rematch in Houston.

actually expected more offense from both sides, but still a killer game all-round. a remake in Houston will be epic to break-in the new venue. that's how it was for the first SCG.
