Big South football continues this Saturday, Sept. 28, with all six teams in action – including Presbyterian College hosting Charlotte in the Big South’s “Game of the Week” on ESPN3. #11/12 COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS (4-0) at Elon Phoenix (1-3) • Rhodes Stadium • 1:30pm
• This is the third meeting between the schools. The series is tied, 1-1, with the road team winning each time.
• Coastal Carolina is looking to become just the third Big South team ever to start 5-0.
• CCU has scored 50 points in four of its last nine games and is averaging 41.2 points over its last 11 contests.
• RB LORENZO TALIAFERRO ranks 12th in the nation with 121.5 rushing yards per game.
• Freshman DB SAMSON BALDWIN leads the Big South with six passes defended (5 PBU, 1 INT).
Robert Morris Colonials (1-2) at VMI KEYDETS (1-3) • Foster Stadium • 1:30pm • Big South Network
• This is the third meeting between the schools. VMI leads the series, 2-0.
• Saturday’s contest will be the Keydets’ third home game of the season -- half of their 2013 home schedule.
• QB ERIC KORDENBROCK (5,379) needs 236 passing yards to move into seventh all-time in Big South history.
• Kordenbrock has completed passes to a League-high 13 different receivers, with 10 catching at least 4 balls.
• The Keydets share the Big South lead for interceptions with four, and is tops with 68 interception return yards.
Charlotte 49ers (2-2) at PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE (1-2) • Bailey Memorial Stadium • 2:00pm • ESPN3
• This is the first meeting between the schools as varsity programs, and the first of two first-time foes for PC.
• The Blue Hose are looking to win back-to-back home games for the first time since the 2011 season.
• Presbyterian ranks second in the Big South in total defense at 304.7 yards allowed per game.
• LaQUA MAYES leads the League in kickoff return average (24.9) and is second in all-purpose yardage (111.7).
• Saturday’s game will be the first time the Big South Conference will use instant replay.
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN BUCCANEERS (4-0) at Appalachian State Mountaineers (1-2) • Kidd Brewer Stadium • 3:30pm
• This is the first meeting between the schools, and the second of three first-time opponents for the Bucs.
• Charleston Southern is looking to become just the third Big South team ever to start 5-0.
• QB MALCOLM DIXON (1,167) needs 16 rush yards to become the Big South’s fifth-leading all-time QB rusher.
• The Buccaneers are second in the Big South in rushing offense with 206.2 yards per game.
• DL WILL HUNT (5.0) and LB CALVIN BRYANT (4.5) rank second and third in the Big South in TFL, respectively.
Point Skyhawks (2-1) at #25 GARDNER-WEBB RUNNIN’ BULLDOGS (3-1) • Spangler Stadium • 6:00pm • Big South Network
• This is the first meeting between the schools, and the second of four first-time opponents for Gardner-Webb.
• Gardner-Webb is looking to start the season 4-1 for the first time since 2002.
• The Runnin’ Bulldogs are in the midst of a 12-quarter touchdown drought.
• RB JUANNE BLOUNT is second in the League with 420 rushing yards and 105.0 yards per game.
• QB LUCAS BEATTY needs 193 yards passing to reach the 4,000-yard mark in his career..
Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (0-3) at LIBERTY FLAMES (2-2) • Williams Stadium • 7:00pm • LFSN, Big South Network
• This is the third meeting between the schools. Liberty leads the series, 2-0.
• The Flames carry the Big South’s longest active home winning streak into the game at six.
• Liberty is 18th in the nation in red zone offense, having scoring on 13-of-14 drives ( =92.9 percent).
• In his last two games, RB DESMOND RICE has rushed 21 times for 203 yards (9.7 average) with four TDs.
• R-Sophomore QB JOSH WOODRUM needs 266 passing yards to reach 3,000 in his young career.
