Why is there so much violence at sporting events in San Francisco? We Philly fans get a bad rap for being assholes, which is often true, but mostly overblown (seriously, the Santa thing was 50 years ago, if that's all you have it's time to get over it). But even the San Francisco PD and mayor are constantly harping on the over the top amount of violence at Giants and 49ers games.

I guess that people have murder lower on their list of crimes than throwing snowballs at Santa. Do we as a society just have our heads up our rectums because we don't even seem to get very upset over this stuff anymore. I don't have any answers, this is pretty sad.

Yeah, I've seen the police in San Fran (and more recently Seattle) have started dressing up in the opposing teams jersey and stuff like that in order to nab people who are just there to start a fight. But why are you paying $60-$70 a ticket, $5 a beer, $6 a hotdog, just to go get in a fight?

I had a discussion about this after the Giants fan who got beaten at the Dodger game two years ago returned home. We were wondering if the a-holes who did it were actually at the game or if they were hanging around the parking lot looking for trouble. Way back in 1976 I would go to Minnesota Kicks soccer games. They didn't charge for parking so the Met Stadium lot where the Twins played was packed, especially with young people who didn't bother going to the game. I guess that no village needs a sign that says, "Idiot Wanted".

Just looked this up on the beaten fan- http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20130613/bryan-stow-returns-dodger-stadium-giants-fan.ap/

SAN FRANCISCO -- A teenage football fan suffered a concussion and a broken arm and nose at Candlestick Park after police say he was attacked during the San Francisco 49ers 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts this weekend.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported (http://bit.ly/1fezVHs) that a 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of beating the 15-year-old boy for urinating in the man's car.
Reports of other assaults at the game were also logged with stadium security.
49ers' season ticket holder Daisy Barringer said she was kicked and punched by another 49ers fan.
The 36-year-old said she has seen violence at both home games this year, and during the preseason.
Security was increased at the stadium two years ago after two shootings, a beating and fights broke out during a preseason game with the Oakland Raiders.

The corner of the stabbing and previous weeks shooting is a park that is almost 3 miles from AT&T park. There are a lot of crazies in San Fran, not to mention the city by the city by the bay, Oakland. Maybe some of the gang crap from Oakland is moving west.

I remember reading this before I visited Oakland

just don't walk in dark places at night, especially at liquor stores!
if you are a sureno FUNKTOWN should be safe for you or anything below 20th avenue
if you are a norteno 23-60's should be safe for you
if you are a blood 70's should be safe for you
if you are a border brother 80-100's should be safe for you.
if you are a drunk Paisa no place is safe for you, if is not gangbangers it's the 5'0 and Immigration
if you are white just stick to the hills, Jack London Square, and downtown, and nothing will happen to you
if you are arabian stick to the liquor store's, most are arabian
if you are asian, Funktown is your town & of course CHINATOWN
if you are mexican(or other latino's) LA CATORCE, or E' 14, especially Fruitvale
if you are black, WEST OAKLAND or the 70's
if you are a LATIN KING just dont come cuz there are no latin kings and you will get shot.
and if you are a tourist dont go to 94th ave, because there's shootings everyday and you might step in the warzone

Notice how the story changed from 15 year old boy to 40 year old man beaten. Still bad, but also bad journalism.
