The Big South picked up three more FCS wins on Saturday, including Gardner-Webb defeating No. 8/10 Wofford to become the first team in Big South history to win back-to-back games against nationally-ranked opponents.

Jordan Day’s 35-yard field goal with 10:52 to play proved to be the game winner, as Gardner-Webb held off No. 8 / 10 Wofford for a 3-0 win in a rain-soaked Gibb Stadium Saturday night. The Runnin’ Bulldogs (3-1) beat a ranked team for the second week in a row, becoming the first team in Big South Conference history to do so. Wofford (2-2) marked the highest-rated team to fall to Gardner-Webb, one week after GWU knocked off No. 11/15 Richmond at home.
Juanne Blount ran for 139 yards on 35 carries to pace Gardner-Webb’s offense, which was able to control the clock (37:43 possession time) and grind out 279 total yards on a sloppy night. GWU held the Terriers to just 149 yards of total offense and 144 yards on the ground – both season-low totals. The Chanticleers improved to 4-0 on the season with a 50-17 victory over Hampton University in front of 9,386 fans on Family Weekend at Brooks Stadium, the second-largest crowd in CCU's history and the largest since adding the north end zone seats for the 2010 season. Coastal did most of its damage in the first half, rolling up 385 yards of total offense and taking a 44-0 lead. The CCU defense was just as dominant by forcing a punt on each Hampton's six first-half possessions and holding the Pirates to 66 yards.
Chanticleer quarterback Alex Ross, playing just the first two quarters, accounted for 175 yards of total offense - completing 12-of-21 passes for 124 yards and a score with nine rushes for 51 yards and two scores. Also playing just the first half, running back Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed 14 times for 99 yards and two TDs, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. Charleston Southern forced four turnovers as part of a spirited defensive effort and improved to 4-0 for the second time in program history with a 20-12 win over Norfolk State at Dick Price Stadium on Saturday evening. The Bucs remained perfect under first-year head coach Jamey Chadwell thanks in part to a brilliant fourth quarter play by junior defensive end Dylan Black. With CSU clinging to a 14-12 lead, Black recorded a strip sack of Norfolk State quarterback Tyler Clark and recovered in the end zone for a touchdown to push the CSU advantage to 20-12 with 3:04 remaining. Second-half adjustments and deteriorating weather conditions slowed an offensively pushed game where No. 23/20 Richmond was able to walk away the victor, 30-21, over visiting Liberty, Saturday night, at Robins Stadium. The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Spiders and gave former Flames head coach Danny Rocco (2006-11) his 10th victory at the helm of Richmond's program. The loss ends Liberty's two-game winning streak and makes both teams 2-2 on the 2013 season.
After the two teams traded punts on their opening possessions, the first scoring drive of the game was set up by a career-long run by Jacobi Green. The sophomore opened the third drive of the game with a 53-yard burst to the near side of the field to get the Spiders into Liberty territory.
