At the very least, the Big South’s 9-2 start against FCS opponents in 2013 has opened some eyes. Among those victories are two wins against Southern Conference foe Furman, one against The Citadel, one against Richmond of the Colonial and one against Ohio Valley preseason favorite Eastern Kentucky.
The Big South has long been considered a little brother of sorts to the more established conferences in the Southeast, namely the SoCon and CAA. And while a few wins against teams from those conferences are not necessarily an indication that the Big South has “arrived,” the respect level of the conference regionally has gone up.
