Here's one of the reasons I ride. The 24 HOB supports the Be The Match program, which signs up bone marrow donors. My friends Brian Hevesy and Bob Falkenberg are alive today because of bone marrow transplants. The Andy Talley Bone Marrow Initiative signs up approximately 9,000 bone marrow donors each year from the 38 colleges and universities that participate in his initiative.

My friend Bob, who is the subject of the article you'll find attached, was the recipient of bone marrow donated by a college student.

Bob's an incredibly tough guy! Just 10 months after his transplant, he rode in the Savannah Century. Then, 9 months later, he rode unsupported from Boston, Ma., to Key West Florida....1800 miles in 29 days! And, the best part? He raised $18,000 to fight cancer in the process!
