White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wants third baseman Joe Crede to win his first American League Gold Glove Award so badly that he's considering radical measures. Because managers and coaches can't vote for their own players, Guillen said he is considering voting for Alex Rodriguez, who leads AL third basemen with 23 errors, or Tony Batista, whom Minnesota designated for assignment June 14.

His way of keeping a deserved vote from either Chavez in Oakland or Lowell in Boston. He should be immediatly stripped of the right to vote.

Lowell should win it. In fact, a couple of BoSox probably will

Lowell 3B, Gonzalez SS, Loretta 2B, Varitek C all could win, and Youkilis if not taking into account his errors at 3B could win at 1B where hes played a majoriuty of his games.

Guillen's ploy actually isn't so wild. Oakland manager Ken Macha told the San Francisco Chronicle that he left the third base spot blank in an effort to enhance Eric Chavez's chances.
Question is - is it better to enhance your own guy's chances by abstaining or by wasting a vote on a clear loser? Either way, you're skirting the rules for you own benefit.

Gold Gloves should be voted on by writers like other awards are.

Little chance that a player from a last-place team will be rookie of the year. Should the Los Angeles Dodgers win the Western Division, the rookie of the year will likely be catcher Russell Martin. He has had a tremendous year all the way around. Andre Ethier, the Dodger LF, was considered by a lot of experts to be the front-runner until he slumped in September. Ethier is still hitting well over .300.

Loretta only has slightly more mobility than a statue:
