Nearly a thousand disgruntled Orioles fans walked out of the game in the fourth inning, culminating a demonstration aimed at team owner Peter Angelos, who has run the team during its club-record run of nine straight losing seasons.

And from his owner's box, Peter Angelos looked out at the protesting crowd and said: "Let them eat crab cake."

Oooooohhhhhh. A whole thousand, huh? They left after paying for their tickets and probably each eating $30 worth of beer and hotdogs. I guess they really showed him, huh.

At this stage in the season, 1000 fans is probably about 40% of the total crowd for a Thursday game at the yard. Not sure how buying tickets and walking out makes a difference.

This area is a weird place for baseball fans. The big Braves get a lot of attention, since the AAA Braves have been in town for decades now. They'll play an Atlanta game on the radio before anything else. Meanwhile, the Orioles are on TV 4 or 5 nights a week. And the closest MLB team, the Washington Nationals, is almost never on TV (thanks mostly to you-know-who)

One thing pretty much everyone around here agrees on, though - Angelos is no good.

Read Mr. C's post. In Bal'more you eat Crab Cakes at the game. Angelos is clueless as an owner. This WAS one of the great American League franchises and the fans still support the team despite Angelos. But he has destroyed this organization.

Owners who should go.

Peter Angelos - Baltimore (Just clueless)
George Steinbrenner - NYY (bad for baseball)
Jeffrey Loria - Florida (If he fires Girardi as expected, the Marlins fans should torch hios house!)

Just so you guys know, he has a deal with MLB so that if fans DONT show up he blames the nats and they give him money. Might as well get our money's worth.

And seeing as it was on just about every sports outlet, and Angelos is pissed as hell, I think it was a success.

This is so true...I was born and raised an O's fan. I even hold the O's as my favorite team even though my city has the Nat's now. But it's hard...Angelos seems to be doing just about everything he possibly can to piss off the O's fans.

The killer for me was when the O's had a chance to sign a pitcher from the Cuban National Baseball team. Somehow one of the O's scouts had befriended this guy and had talked him into coming to the states. Angelos nixed the deal because he did not want to offend Fidel Castro xidiotx xidiotx xidiotx xidiotx xidiotx xidiotx xidiotx. The guy chose liberal politics over winning baseball!!!!:nono: :nono:

All my firends who are O's fans are just praying that he sells the team.

Very sad to see how they have slipped. With the Dodgers, they were the best all-around baseball franchise beginning in the mid 1960's to mid '90's (even with the 1988 collapse) and now they are a shell of what they were.

Angelos is terrible and so is the O's farm system which used to be among the best in baseball for a very long time.

Angelos is terrible and so is the O's farm system which used to be among the best in baseball for a very long time.It has gotten much better in recent years, mainly due to Joe Jordon, scouting director.
