David "BIG PAPI" Ortiz hit his American League leading 50th homer in the bottom of the 6th (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=260920102&page=plays#inning6) against Minnesota to give Boston a 2-1 lead. The homer ties Ortiz with Jimmie Foxx for the Red Sox single season record with 10 games left to set a new mark.

Against his old team, no less. I hope that's not the last historic homer to be given up by Boof Bonser. The more that guy's name is in the record books, the better.
Congrats to Ortiz for a huge milestone. Maybe the Sox can relax the rules and retire his and Foxx's numbers someday.

Papi continues his assult on Leftys today with a 1st inning homer off Gustavo Chacin, his 53rd homer of the year. Ortiz has 7 games left including todays to improve on his Red Sox single season record for homers which was previously held by Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx at 50
