Drake football player Stacey Walker of Cedar Rapids was named the Boys & Girls Clubs of America national Youth of the Year today at a Congressional breakfast in Washington, D.C.

He will receive a $15,000 scholarship from the Reader’s Digest Foundation, appear on the NBC “Today" show at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and have the opportunity to meet President Bush on Friday.

Unfortunately we don't hear enough about the really good things athletes do.

Walker earned all-conference honors in football and track as a senior at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
