A huge weekend! These were major victories, and a few close calls too (WM). With all of this BCS/FBS lunacy and conference switches and greed... we reminded everyone that FCS is still here, we have quality football, and we can compete and WIN!!! xpeacex

Despite the fact that we are competing in different environments and a variety of restrictions in place (e.g. no playoff participation and/or non-scholarship status in some conferences), real college football is still alive and kicking. The FBS is just a commercialized version of what college football was ages ago.

Not only compete with all the NCAA restrictions on scholarships etc. but all games are away games.

In reading stories on ESPN and Bleacher Report, there are a number of people who are referring to these wins as D2 opponents. Evidently these "experts" don't know much about college football in general, and FCS and D2 football in particular. xblehx

I sure thought Howard had pulled it out against Eastern Michigan last night once they went up 24-14 in the 4th.

Indeed. FBS teams would be hard pressed in the fargodome. The noise would make us even harder to beat. Just ask a Socon team how NDSU playing FBS teams in Fargo would make a huge difference.

ESPN mentions the FCS wins on the main page, but many of the highlights in the video aren't from actual wins.

There's no link. See "Coming to get you" on the main page.

Actually, there is, click "Game Day Final" and the first article is about all the FCS upsets.

It took me 4 views to catch where the ball went...needless to say that was awesome

Awesome, they adapted the old single-wing "bummerooski" play...in HS, we had a singlewing package that we'd get into for specific circumstances...we'd put two QB's in and just for grins, there were times when I'd snap to an upback, like in the fake punt, and the QB's would run through their fakes, etc...and the upback would stay tucked like that, let the flow pass him by, and then cut back away from the flow and up field....

That is Epic, but most coaches hold off on that stuff til later in the year when it might matter so they don't expose it on film. A little surprised.

That play was so awesome. Didn't they also try a HB Option Pass play that was picked?

It actually is a play Villanova uses often, but the halfback didn't do what he was suppose to do. He was suppose to throw the ball back to the QB, who was suppose to throw the pass. If the QB isn't open, the RB is suppose to run the ball, not throw.

Villanova has all sorts of stuff like that. The Cats will just come up with something new for later in the year. But every team they play must take time to prepare for that fake punt now.
