PITTSBURGH -- Five Duquesne basketball players, all but one of them new players who enrolled only this month, were shot early Sunday morning during an apparent act of random violence on campus. Two players were in critical condition, and the condition of a third hospitalized player was not immediately available.

I hope they all recover fully.

These events just seem to be getting worse all the time. Apparently the five players shot were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and ran into a pycho punk.

I drove thru the DU campus in the fall. Bunched up next to a not so good area in Pittsburgh. Hope all come through OK, but nearly everyone listed in the article was a transfer?

They were mostly first-year players. Not a great first impression, I must say.

I read on ESPN that the new coach cleaned house & brought in something like 11 new players. Crazy stuff.

When i heard about this i couldn't believe it. Duquesne has turned into a pretty "in" school for a lot of kids that graduated from my HS over the last 5 years. I'm really not sure what part of Pittsburgh it's in but these sort of things happen at inner city schools. Temple is in as bad an area as a school can possibly be in, it makes Beirut look like the Hamptons. Thankfully for me I never experienced any dangers at Temple, a few uncomfortable walks around campus late at night but at no time did i ever feel my safety was in jeopardy. However i have heard of a few unfortunate things that have happened, some because of bad luck, some because of bad judgement. With that said i hope they catch the Duquesne shooter and hang him by his balls from one of the dorms.

The shooter apparently was a female? Does anybody know the motive yet?
