As a senior he caught 50 passes for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns, and added 28 tackles, five interceptions and 11 pass breakups on the defensive side of the ball. He caught 51 passes for 680 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior. Young won a pair of state championships in track and field as a member of the school's 4x200 (2011) and 4x400 (2012) relay teams.
